Soon We'll Have Answers on Brock Lesnar's Return and When Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Will Face Rashad Evans, Plus Floyd Mayweather
Dave Meltzer knows it all. First the Brock Lesnar front:
Lesnar is scheduled to appear on ESPN on Wednesday morning to discuss his situation with diverticulitis, which forced him to cancel a Nov. 21 title defense, hospitalized him for two weeks, and has kept him on the sidelines ever since.
Lesnar will likely announce his return, possibly with a time frame. In the past week, two of Lesnar's coaches - Greg Nelson and Marty Morgan - have said Lesnar would be returning, hinting it would be soon but saying they couldn't confirm when. Others close to the situation have noted it has not been an easy decision for Lesnar to make; without having major surgery, there is a risk of another painful attack.
Then on Rampage vs Rashad:
Another change made is in arguably UFC’s biggest fight on the books at this point: the Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Rashad Evans match built on the last season of "The Ultimate Fighter" with the two as rival coaches. The match will likely take place at UFC 114 on May 29 in Las Vegas instead of the originally announced UFC 113 show on May 1 in Montreal. UFC president Dana White said in a text message Tuesday morning that Jackson vs. Evans will most likely take place in Vegas.
Then there's the whole Mayweather vs UFC 113 deal:
Yet another potential change could be the date of UFC 113, currently slated for May 1 in Montreal. If Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley sign for a fight on May 1, as has been talked about since the Mosley vs. Andre Berto fight scheduled for Jan. 30 fell apart, White said UFC would look to change its Bell Centre date to May 8 to avoid a head-to-head battle against what would likely be the biggest boxing match of the first half of 2010.
These are all good news items for the UFC. The return of Brock Lesnar, like it or not, the UFC's biggest star is far and away the most important thing that can happen in 2010.
Pulling off the Rampage vs Rashad match is yet another big win for Dana White and I can only imagine how happy he'll be to have it behind him.
Finally, ducking out of a head-to-head PPV showdown with Floyd Mayweather is just smart promotion.

I think we can comfortably say all is well on the Lesnar front.
I very seriously doubt that he’d be giving bad news on sportscenter.
Smart of Dana not to go head to head with Mayweather, since UFC113 will headline Rampage vs Rashad. It’s just too much money to lose.
113 does not headline Rampage/Rashad, 114 might.

If he lost as much weight as been rumored?
Size was a big part of his game…I’m not sure he’s going to instantly be a threat.
How much weight do you think he could of possibly lost and how much do you think he could put back on by this summer? It’s not going to be that big of an issue. His game was based on strength and wrestling skill not just his mass, even if he dropped 20lbs he will be back in prime shape after a training camp.
Maybe if he was on chemo.
Keep firing Assholes!
Mind numbing, tedious and ultimately self defeating.
That rumor has pretty much been shot to shit already. Heck you can look at recent photos of him and tell he hasn’t dropped to 220lbs. If he had lost that much weight that quickly it would be blatantly obvious every time he stepped in from of a camera, he’d look like a chemo patient.
He has not dropped that low....
he did lose some weight but is not 220 by any means

The same reason you can say that there is not a fine china set floating in the asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars. You do not have to be completely certain of something to make a reasonable assumption.

Because part of my job is to find things out maybe?
Look. I know he isn’t at 220. I don’t know his exact weight. But I know that he is not 220.

Rampage vs Rashad is happening on UFC 114 not UFC 113.
Expo 2010 will lead up to UFC 114. I can’t wait to see this card fill up. It’s this years UFC 100.

BROCKLESNARRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
I think Rampage will come back to the UFC after Dana shows him a spreadsheet of his projected earnings over the next 5 years.

I donno, from his time on TUF Rampage didn’t really come across as a spreadsheet kinda guy. A piece of paper with number on it would work better I reckon.
Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

"Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass. I told him a year ago. I pulled it out of him and I beat him over the head with it." Brock Lesnar
i just have to rec everytime someone says brock lesnar in all caps

Here.
Don't believe a word I say, I don't train BJJ.
I blog at TangleBones - you should follow me on Twitter here.
I’m curious to see what kind of physical shape he’s in.
You have to be the man... you have to be very, like, alpha male with her. You know? Decide what you do and everything. So, show her who's the boss, you know? - GSP
Probably still bigger than Mir.
Walking the line between intelligence and ignorance since 1985
@deowade
It would be a shame if Lesnar didn’t return back to his former physical self. Cause I really want to see Mir / Lesnar III with both at their physical peak.

Wasted away to a sickly 260.
He’s only Shane Carwin size now.

Mir was at his physical peak for both their previous fights.

All good things, with boxing only doing two or three PPV a year, and using only Floyd and Manny, both can do a million PPV buys, the UFC does a card or more a month, so why go head to head and possibly lose buys to boxing.
While 113 would have been huge with Machida/shogun, Rampage/Rashad, Daley/Kos, Kimbo and Cote/Belcher, still is a good card and then you get Page/Rashad on the end of May card.
As for Brock, great if he is back, but without the surgery there is a chance he could suffer some shit and get out again or forever? Thats risky no? Why not have it all taken care of and get it over with?
I mean whats worse for the UFC then for him to come back, win a fight or two, sign Fedor, set a huge fight up and oh no, Brocks insides crumble and he is rushed to the hospital for surgery and will never fight again.
Why not take the year off, get healthy then come back? I hope he isnt rushing this.
Brock Lesnar has plenty of money
he has plenty to do with his life other than MMA. If he’s returning, it’s purely for competition. I don’t think he’d come back unless he felt he would be 100%. This isn’t a desperate man who needs to fight to survive. Fighting is a luxury for Brock, not a necessity, and he wouldn’t be doing it if he didn’t feel comfortable in his health and safety.
dont know when that pic of Brock and Kenny was taken but Brock sure seems a lot smaller than normal, seems like his neck and arms shrunk in that pic.
