UFC 110 Preview: Michael Bisping Blogs About Wanderlei Silva

Training for this camp is already going very well. I know Wanderlei is a legend in the sport, but styles make fights and I truly believe my style is a very bad fit for Wanderlei. With Rampage giving me the insider's perspective, I am even more confident of beating the legend at the Acer Arena in Sydney on Feb 21st.

Despite Wanderlei's legendary reputation, I am not going to be overwhelmed in this fight. I am not going to stand off and be in awe of Wanderlei. Yes, he's a big-name in mixed martial arts and is one of the most recognisable figures in the sport. Yes, he also packs plenty of power in his fists. However, the way to beat Wanderlei is to go out there and show him no respect. Rampage did exactly that and he blasted Wanderlei out of there inside a round. If you give Wanderlei too much respect, he’ll chew you up and spit you out.

I'm planning on one thing and one thing only: going out to Australia and beating Wanderlei Silva up... I'm not going out there for a holiday or to make up the numbers. This is the biggest fight of my life and I can't accept anything but victory. I know what I'm up against and I know exactly what I have to do to beat him."

I'm living, eating and sleeping Wanderlei Silva right now. Like Rampage did 13 months ago, I'm going to crush 'The Axe Murderer'...

Yea...about that

You’re not Rampage, so results may vary.

if bisbing can stay away and win on points he’ll pull off a very boring fight, but i doubt that will happen , wandi will walk him down and bisbing will eventually circle in the wrong direction into a power punch , there could be a chance that he catches wandi with a punch and knock him out but bisbing has very little punching power.

And Rampage went to the land of wind and ghosts 2 out of 3 times anyway.

so results may vary

I lol’d

It might be Rampage Wandy 1&2, no chance of it being 3.

You would think that a dude who suffered one of the worst KO’s in MMA history would be just a tad more humble next time around.. But not Michael Bisping. He is just as arrogant as before.

It doesn’t matter what he actually says anymore, the narrative has been set in stone and it’s going to get played out over and over and over again.

by An0nymous on Jan 18, 2010 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

Eh?

He noted Wandy’s strengths and gave him props as a MMA legend.

And then said he was going to beat him.

Should he be saying I CANNOT WIN THIS FIGHT? He sounded very measured but confident he can win. What’s wrong with that?

I finish beers at 1:55.

Wow, the British Empire bites back. Relax dudes, all I was referring to was that after his “I’m knocking Dan Henderson out in the first round”-speech for UFC 100, I would be a bit more careful to say that “I’m going to crush my next opponent”, especially when the risk of getting KTFO is rather large. If Wandy knocks him the bleep out in this upcoming fight then he is going to look like an even bigger douchebag this time around.

losers are humble. champions are delusional.

Sure glad Lesnar got his shit straightened out.

So if his style is a very bad fit for Wanderlei, why would he throw that style away and use Rampage’s?

Wouldn’t surprise me if this is just a ruse…

insiders perspective??????

whats he gona do?

bring Rampage left arm with him to the octagon??

I am VERY worried about the cut to 85 for Wandy

He looked drained at 195 so this might not go so well. It concerns me that he’s never cut weight before.

Rampage’s inside perspective: A close look at the mat.

Ya know, props and all for the third fight, but that doesn’t exactly wipe out the first two fights, at least to me.

Their first fight was very close. Page held in there really well until he gassed trying to GnP. Wand popped up and outran him to a KO before the bell rang.

Sure glad Lesnar got his shit straightened out.

A win over Wandy now

is not the same as win over him in Pride. This reminds of how these AKA guys wanted to get a win over a past his prime Hughes.
I hope Wandy breaks his losing streak and KO’s this guy worse than Hendo did.

I see Bisping looking to capitalise on his Kang strategy

Takedowns, elbows from guard, stay away from the power shots. They just replayed the fight last night on Spike and Bisping really impressed with his hip escapes and raining down pain from the top.

I finish beers at 1:55.

Agreed.

I see Bisping taking him down and GnP to a TKO victory.

How the hell do you do that? Is there Wandy-O cereal or something? Does he have a stuffed Wandy doll that he sleeps with at night?

I think Wanderlei Silva is a legend of the sport of MMA and I am proud to have the opportunity to compete with a great champion like him. I am planning to win this fight.

I am hoping for the 2003

Wandy to come out and soccer stomp Bisping back to Britian, server only a 6 month suspension the do it again in a rematch and retire.

War Wand.

Wand has to fight smarter. He’s gotta save his holy shit barrage of punches for when he has the guy on the cage or gets a lucky shot, not just wade in and throw.

He’s gotta play smarter if he wants any glory.

War Wand!

I wonder if Shogun can sort of reinvent himself for the Machida fight, Wandy could refine his own Muay Thai

Wand got to Franklin and wobbled him 2x in their feet…..Bisping will circle into a big right hand like he does in most of his fights…..and that will be that. If Bisping somehow pulls off some run n’ pray decision on jabs and non-threatening kicks/pitter patter punches….i will be disgusted.
