Forrest Griffin fights Pride legend
I’ve seen this headline before.
The man know simply as "Christmas Cheesesteak"
Just to clarify, I’m excited for this fight. I just think its funny he’s been matched up against so many former Pride stars. Its like his job in the UFC. He seems to be doing pretty well in them.

UFC 112 maybe?
2010 Seahawks Goals: Master the forward pass, sack the QB, and knock Arizona off their perch.
You know this should be the headline fight at UFN 21
and that is UFN 21 because the Vera/Jones is called UFC on Versus 1.
Add this and Gomi/Florian and make a huge fight night again for the premeire of the next TUF.
I know it’s dreaming but cards like 111, 112, and 113 already have great fights on them and people will still order those cards.
I would love this, but Florian and Griffin on free TV. I just can’t see that happening.

Don't give away that much for free

Of course I'd want it for free
But the UFC would never put a fight of this quality on free live TV. Maybe to headline a UK tape delay card but not an UFN.
UFN is meant for prospects, TUFs growing up, and the occasional headliner like Silva/Irvin or even Sylvia/Assuerio Silva to determine who gets a title shot.

and even with the occassional headliner it’s always only one headliner and one guy who your just like well since its free I cant complain. Irvin and Assuerio Silva are not exactly top guys.
Like I said in my original post I know its dreaming but hey a guy can dream right.
Tanner/Loiseau was as good as you could get.

can u clarify about ufn and versus 1. I am very confused, I thought ufn 21 was on march 21. i dont know.
gladly. Originally everyone thought the March 21 first event on Versus was UFN 21 but from what I understand that is UFC on Versus 1, that event is on March 21 in Colorado and ft’s a main event of Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera
Then you have UFC 111 with GSP vs. Hardy on March 27th in New Jersey
Then on March 31 you have UFN 21 which is in North Carolina and ft’s Roy Nelson vs. Stefan Struve and is followed by the debut of TUF 11.
Hope that clears everything up.
This is AWESOME. Poor Forrest Griffin is screwed though, he’s fighting a man who is better at every facet of MMA then him. If/when lil’ nog wins this he will probably be one more fight away from a title shot, which is SWEET! WAR LIL’ NOG!!!!
…and I agree with bigdmmafan, The other PPV cards are stacked that are comming up, this would be a perfect fit for main event of UFN 21. It would be the best Ultimate fight night ever if that happened. SUPER STACKED.
UFC is really picking up lately. :)
I can c Forrest right now he is about 100 feet away in Tulsa taking picks with fans.. Also Tim boetch( don’t think I spelled it right one his fight.. Jeff monson about to fight as well as Clementi and Houston Alexander

Has Forrest ever turned down a fight?
haha. Credit to Forrest for fighting whoever the UFC puts infront of him. Lil Nog will win but sounds like an entertaining fight.

I think he might have turned down a fight with Machida when he first came to the UFC. I could be wrong on that, though I do know Forrest has commented before on how much he would not want to fight Machida, pre-belt.
Guillotine.
He was injured and pulled out of the fight at UFC 70.
David Heath stepped in.

UFC 114 maybe?
110-113 are stacked and will do great without this fight. They haven’t announced any fights for 114 yet so maybe this can (co)Main Event it.
Isn't it funny how this works?
We’re wringing our hands over 108 and 109 and now we’re deferring great fights because cards are too stacked. Crazy..

These cards look awesome!
But seriously, if they put this fight on 111, 112, or 113 who will they have available for 114 or 115 besides Tito and Chuck?

SHould be a great fight. I’m a big believer in Lil Nog, but this will be a tough fight for him, although in all honesty Forrest had a little bit more trouble with Ortiz than I thought he would. Really excited for this one, and its definitely the fight they should make.
I think that a lot of people are down on Forrest for getting killed by Anderson Silva. While Nogueira has better standup than Forrest, I too think that Forrest will make this a fight and not just get killed (even though Nogueira killed Cane). I could be very wrong with this prediction though.
Better standup?
Better boxing— but Forrest is the better kickboxer.

It’s also intended as a good test of where Lil’ Nog’s cardio is now, and whether he will have the skills (again, as of the present day) to deal with a kickboxer who may extensively attempt to use the reach advantage from kicks.
His cardio has never been a problem.
The striking is a non-comparison. Forrest paws with his left hand far too much and throws lazy leg kicks. He’s going to get slipped and eat a combo like Luiz Cane did, except it might take two or three rounds to put him away.
"That muscle contraction, that core strength that kind of happens, that pulls together when you’re maybe smoking weed or whatever, you know, you’re coughing or whatever ... I’m not a doctor or a fucking scientist, but I’ve smoked plenty of weed. And, you know, I think in my opinion it’s pretty damn good for you." MMAPlayground Profile
These are words that I never thought I would say, but...
Forrest has much better defense than [somebody]. [somebody] in this case is Luiz Cane. Forrest eats a lot of punches, but still uses his footwork and range with leg kicks to keep himself from getting totally blasted. If you watch the Cane-Cantwell fight… he doesn’t care that he’s getting punched. He just keeps moving forward. His game is almost centered around the idea that he can walk through anything and get a return on the exchange. Despite that, I think this is a great fight for Rogerio and fear Forrest is going to become the new Jardine.
Oh, and I forgot the most important distinction. Forrest runs after the fight is over. Cane didn’t even wait that long.

Okay why the hell is everyone counting out Forrest? Have you all forgotten how he beat down current LHW contender Shogun? Don’t forget how he chopped Ramage’s legs down like a lumber jack with those kicks. A motivated Griffin is a very dangerous Griffin. Also remember that despite Lil Nog looking really good lately, he was also knocked out by Sokoudjou in Pride! This is a really good matchup, 50/50 chance of either guy winning.

Forrest's Boxing is so Bad
His handspeed is slow and he just sits there and takes punches. Very bad matchup for him considering lil nog has some of the best boxing in the weightclass.
plus he has literally no power in his punches
u never know with forrest though i see this being a close fight that can go either way lil nog has way better boxing and probably a better ground game but forrest has won fights he wasnt supposed to many times before
Forrest is a bad ass
This guy just loves the challenge and never takes a easy fight. People can say what they want about forrest but he takes on the best in the world and is often the victor. Lil Nog is gonna be a tuff guy to beat and i see him as taking this one because he is a future contender.; But the worst choice you could make is to count forrest out of this fight.
This is exactly the fight I hoped they would match
Except I figured they wouldn’t want to keep throwing Forrest to the dogs and lose one of their posterboys. That was the logic I thought they were implementing when they matched him against Tito, which wasn’t in my opinion a very impressive showing. (T)KO Lil Nog in Round 2-3
Forrest really has run the LHW Gauntlet like no other
Props to Forrest.
Obviously Machida is the only monster he hasn’t faced, but he has A.Silva to make up for that on his resume.
guy gets in there with anyone…
