Ricardo Arona in talks with UFC:
"I can’t talk about this project right now, but there’s a connection between me and the UFC now, something concrete that I didn’t have before. My return will be in the end of the year and will be in the UFC", Arona revealed, exclusively to TATAME.com. "I’ll be worried about my performance, my knee and my body. I wanna do my best in every fight. I’m used to big competition like the UFC, I wanna be ready".

Does Ricardo Arona have a reputation for having psychological problems? Or are you thinking Paulo Filho?
Interesting. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is more about the UFC signing away a potential challenger for Mousasi than legitimately wanting Arona.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

It really does seem like the UFC is signing guys to keep them out of Strikeforce. If they do well, great for the UFC, if they lose a couple of fights, they get released and then picked up by Strikeforce, but then the UFC can say “well they couldn’t cut it in the big leagues” and discredits their roster. Pretty smart.
I hope this is true
I have always believed Arona’s game would translate well to the cage and the unified rules.
I thought so too before I watched him against Eastman
he thought he would be able to keep people pinned down easier in the cage but the truth is that fighters gets up easier in the cage instead of a ring. He needs to work on that, but I would be psyched if he comes to the UFC.
Pain is Temporary
Pride is Forever
Let's try this again...
As one of the only people here that likes Arona: WOOT.

I'm with you man.
Arona vs. Rampage part deux, anyone?

@deowade
Very possible
Either if Rampage loses or Arona GNP’s a few consecutive guys and Rampage has the strap. So many possibilities…

Very woot. I’m a little worried about his knee though.

The latter
StrikeForce needs to build-up it’s roster and Arona would be a huge addition.

@deowade
I thought that marriage was inevitable. And it would have been safer for Arona.

excellent
It’ll be nice to see some more elite grappling at LHW
We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms, turning every good thing to rust.
I can see him fighting at MW personally, he was muscly as hell in Pride and perhaps he will decide to move down . Would love to see him fight Wandy again
With no roids
I’ll bet he moves down to MW.

Arona
If he is on form is the best grappler in MMA and could very well be the best grappler period. Having him in the UFC will be amazing.

it didn’t end up looking as cool as it did when i thought of the idea. but at that point it would have been a shame to hit cancel…

![Ricardo Arona: One Win Away from UFC Status
"I spoke to Dana White, he was very amicable, every fighter in the UFC were very amicable towards me. They were all asking if I was going to fight for the UFC and all. And Dana told me that it would be interesting for me to compete in one more fight before competing in the UFC, so that I wouldn’t stay inactive and also so that they could analyze my performance as well. I thought that was fair in one way and not fair in another. For one, I think I can come back with everything because I know what I’m capable of doing inside [the octagon]. But if this is a formality and something determined by the promotion, I see nothing wrong with it. I have lots of options right now, I received calls from Abu Dhabi and also from many other countries that are organizing important promotions and I think that’s great, I see nothing wrong with it. From what I’ve seen in this weight class from the champions, what I have to say is that without a doubt, once I get there I will get the belt"
-- Ricardo Arona went on to say that he’s been inactive because he was recovering from a surgery he underwent for injuries he received during the Marvin Eastman fight in December of last year (meniscus and ACL injury) and that he expects to be cleared to fight by December.
