At this point, Melvin and Leland go hand in hand.

if you don’t have a ground game, go to ATT :p

First Kimbo, now Melvin. Just saying, good for them!

I don’t see him learning much of one at this stage in his career…. but all the right people are there if he does wanna try to improve it.

by TDITZ on Jan 13, 2010 9:10 AM EST up reply actions

He’s been getting better in terms of his takedown defense and ability to be a problem in trying to submit on the ground. He’s going through the same progression that Daley had to go through, so it isn’t completely out of this world that he gains some solid defense.

exactly

a full ground game is not needed, what is needed is defense which is much easier to learn and will be much more effective to someone like him.

Yeah, his TD defense has been much improved over the last couple years, that is for sure. And hell, that’s all he really needs (well that, and maybe a couple sweeps/escapes from the bottom)… just look at Daley. We all know that once on the ground, he is like a fish outta water, but his TD has improved enough to keep him away from the ground altogether and now he is the hottest WW in the UFC.

by TDITZ on Jan 13, 2010 9:20 AM EST up reply actions

And even though the Misaki stoppage was somewhat bullshit, Misaki blocked nearly all those shots and still got backed into a corner and blasted. It’s just flat out tough to take shots from Manhoef, blocked or not.

I don’t see why this time would be any different.

I wanna see vid of him sparring with kimbo,. wanna see if kimbo learns what “legendary power” is

by kanodogg on Jan 13, 2010 9:40 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Shouldn’t that read ‘Melvin Manhoeff’?

I could have sworn that is how his name was spelled in the fight promo. ;)

by Steve4192 on Jan 13, 2010 10:00 AM EST reply actions

Strikeforce had better not forget to show his entrance.

by Polyh3dron on Jan 13, 2010 10:16 AM EST reply actions

I dunno.

They aren’t in the habit of showing entrances. Mayhem’s is the only one that I can recall them going out of their way to put on the broadcast. I know Fedor’s entrance and the huge crowd reaction he got was not shown on their first CBS show.

by Steve4192 on Jan 13, 2010 10:30 AM EST up reply actions

that why i said they will forget lol. I was mad they didnt show the King Mo entrance last time too. That was baloney.

HI YAH!

Haha, I’ve always wondered if Melvin could go to 155 (no), or at least 170, I guess he’s in the right place if he would like to do such a move…
