Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher Scheduled for UFC 113 in Montreal

Photo

Two of the middleweight division's hardest-hitting sluggers will collide on the main card of UFC 113 in Montreal, when the surging Alan Belcher meets Canadian favorite Patrick Cote, who will be returning from an extensive layoff due to injury.  Canadian MMA site Top MMA News has the report:

Sources close to the fight have informed Top MMA News that this fight has been signed and Patrick Cote vs Alan Belcher will be taking place May 1st at the Bell Center in Montreal at UFC 113.

This is some excellent match-making by Joe Silva, as impressive recent performances from Belcher have earned him main-card status, while Cote will be a huge crowd favorite in Montreal.  Furthermore, Cote is coming off of a long period of inactivity and an underwhelming performance in his last fight against Anderson Silva, and with the skills he and Belcher bring to the table, the UFC is looking for some fireworks in this one.

The current UFC 113 rumored card includes:

Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans

Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher

Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens

Jonathan Goulet vs. Marcus Davis

Cote by TKO rnd 2

Better chin, more power and Belcher leaves himself way too open

Great 1st match back for Cote

However, I see Alan taking this one due to his better jiu jitsu since I think their striking is fairly even.. Belcher via UD.

I'd like this fight better if Cote

wasnt coming off such a long layoff from the type of injury he had. I have to chose Belcher in this one.

I’m of similar thinking. Belcher does tend to take a lot of shots, and Cote hits as hard as almost anyone out there (I know people who have sparred with him in the past and they say that if anything his hands are actually under-rated in terms of power). But Cote is also slow and has a tendency to get wild and throw looping haymakers when he’s excited or tired. Even so, if he wasn’t trying to shake off a TON of ring rust, I’d still go with Cote, but this is a hell of a tough first fight back.

The andvantage that Belcher has though are his kicks

which are pretty solid. It will be interesting to see how Cote’s knee and leg hold up to them.

Too long a layoff for Cote. He will be super-rusty.

they’re lobbing one right over the plate for M. Davis.

Gatti. Dekkers. Pele. Aoki. Kang. Vanderlei. Basillio. Harry Greb.

It'll be good for both of them....

Davis and Cote will be in the same camp for their fights. Great way to prepare…..

Great matchmaking. i’d rather see Belcher fight Bisping but this is still a very good fight.

Cote’s coming off a bad injury with a lot of rung rust, and Belcher’s definitely more well-rounded. Belcher by UD.

Alright so everyone is getting healthy

and suddenly this spring we are gonna have these sick cards

UFC 111 – Mir/Carwin, GSP/Hardy, Alves/Fitch II
UFC 112 – Penn/Edgar, Anderson/Vitor, Gracie/Hughes
UFC 113: Machida/Rua II, Rampage/Rashad, Cote/Belecher

Sickness . . .

Well, with May 1st as the target for UFC 113

That means he should have enough time to take off the weight. He was 230 lbs on an interview about a week ago. Only 45 lbs to get to middleweight!

I'm wondering about three things

1. Who Belcher’s Cash tattoo looks like this time
2. What absurd hairstyle will Belcher have.
3. What fruity color of fight shorts he will be wearing………..

When Cote knocks his ass out.

Good to have Cote back in the cage, i’ve always been a fan of the guy he always brings the fight and his last performance was far from lackluster if it wasn’t for that freak injury things could have been very interesting that night.
