Kaitlin Young, Shayna Baszler, Jan Finney and Jennifer Tate are among the EliteXC and Strikeforce veterans slated to compete in an eight-woman tournament beginning Jan. 30 at Freestyle Cage Fighting 39 in Shawnee, Okla.

Also taking part in the tournament are Megumi Yabushita, Sarah Schneider, Adrienna Jenkins and Liz Carreiro. The headliner of the card is said to be Erin Toughill facing a yet unnamed opponent. The semifinals are to happen March 27th and we shall have a champion on June 12th.

Personally, I'm excited. It might happen in a relatively small event, but whoever wins the tournament will have gone through quite a list of fighters. I wouldn't put it past Strikeforce to at least ask the winner to go against whoever their women's champion is at that point.
