Quote of the Day: Wes Sims Talks Homelessness and the Ultimate Fighter 10
I feel fortunate because everybody I meet who knows I was in the UFC always asks me, ‘Have you been on the Ultimate Fighter?' I knew how it worked and I realized that they weren't bringing in guys who had already been in the UFC. So when season ten came out with heavyweights, as a joke, I sent a text to Joe Silva saying that I knew what was going on and I wanted in. He laughed, and he told me he'd send word to the producers because he thought my personality would be good for the show.
And I thought, is that it? Is that all I had to do? That's a lot easier than trying to locate this house and jump the wall and take on all comers. Don't get me wrong, I would have done it. I would have tried, anyway.
...
Yeah, that's why when you asked me how I liked the house I said it was great compared to where I was living. I was living pretty much in a garbage bag and not even a tent, just a sleeping bag.

UFC fighter to Living on the Streets?
Goddamn, that’s rough. It must be incredibly easy to wind up homeless. Sometimes, my suburban bubble is nice.

Makes you wonder how he even could afford a cell phone and give away spoilers.

Wes always was more of a PRIDE fan.

Maggie Hendricks Thinks that TUF 10 will suck:
5. This cast won’t be as hungry. I’m not saying that these fighters won’t want to make it to the cage, but they won’t be as literally hungry as previous cast members. When season seven cast member Gerald Harris joined TUF, he was broke and had no other options. Josh Koscheck, an original cast member quit his job as a wrestling coach to pursue his dream of fighting. When you don’t know where your next paycheck is coming from, you have to work that much harder. This cast of fighters is accomplished. If they don’t make it to the Octagon, their kids won’t starve. They’ll still have a home. (UPDATE: Except Wes Sims.) Will that be as compelling?
.
It’s not that I won’t watch, but I am going in with the lowest expectations that I’ve had for the show in years.
Yup, i think not knowing about your next paycheck because you broke your hand or quit coaching wrestling, pales in comparison to being as hungry as wes sims is gonna be.
Everybody’s exited because of the “youtube guy” Kimbo and manufactured bad blood between Rashad and Rampage, other than that…bunch of sloppy heavyweights.
But hey, it’s TV…

she did get one right though...
4. No Al “Stankie.” I will be interested to see the involvement of fighters and coaches from both Greg Jackson’s and Wolfslair, the training camps of Evans and Jackson, respectively. Nonetheless, we are not likely to see Al “Stankie” Stankiewicz, the hilarious boxing coach from Antonio Rodigo Nogueira’s team in season eight. No random stories, no green beret, no pearls of wisdom that come from years of experience.
