Rashad Evans confirms the fight with Rampage Jackson is off UFC 107 on 'IT'S TIME!!!' with Bruce Buffer [at the 57 min mark] (audio)

"I am (going to fight him), but not when I’m supposed to. He’s kind of getting sidetracked taking other opportunities above fighting."

"They haven’t nailed down any dates, but they did say it would happen after the new year," said Evans. "I think they we’re waiting to speak with Quinton’s guys to see when exactly he feels he should be ready."

"If it couldn’t happen at all, I would definitely want to fight somebody else," said Evans, "but I know the UFC definitely has a lot invested in us fighting each other. It makes no sense for us to fight somebody else because then all that they have created is just a waste."

I am not happy about this. Not one bit.

Me neither! Fu*k the bigger picture! I wanted that fight, and it will be even worst after the show.

I’m not happy about this either, since the A-Team movie will probably suck. This, coming from an 80’s child that grew up on the A-Team and Transformers.

The fights off?

I thought Rashad said that the fight would be postponed but he was pretty certain that Rampage was going to be his next fight. Did I miss something?

It's off UFC 107

Will most likely be moved back, not canceled.

It's bad enough guys take FOREVER off to be coaches on the show.....

Then, they don’t even show that fight w/ the coaches during the Finale, they save it for the PPV, NOW we have to wait EVEN LONGER.

LIke the fight w/ Serra/Hughes, this fight will have lost alot of it’s appeal after the LONG wait.

Should they keep him on the card and match him up with the guy he was supposed to face at UFC 84 Thiago Silva? Or should they save him for Rampage?

i bet Dana is pissed the hype from this season could be huge and the coaches always square off at the end of the season on the next PPV after the finale but all that steam gets let out when the fight is pushed back to another date. People will still wanna see it but not as bad as the shows conclusion

“I hate it with a [expletive] passion,” White said when asked about UFC fighters who take movie roles. “’You’re a fighter; you’re not a movie star.’ It’s so [expletive] funny because fighters want to be movie stars, and movie stars want to act like they’re fighters. ‘Get a [expletive] grip. “‘Guess what Rashad Evans is thinking about right now,’” White said he plans to tell Jackson. "’He’s thinking about beating your [expletive] ass. D A M N

I bet Rampage’s hometown Memphis fans are pissed.

Dana will seemingly let Rampage get away with anything.

That being said, Im from Little Rock (1.5 hr from Memphis) so Ill still be there. Hopefully Mir keeps running his mouth and they change Mir/Kongo to Mir/Nog II.

BUMMER!

Damn i was really looking forward to this fight…i thought it would be a good battle. its a bummer that Rampage wont get to TKFO Evans… even though Evans is good. i think Page is funnier. lol it would be like the Roast on comedy central . What a bummer!

As the official Rashad nuthugger around here,

Rashad beats Rampage anyways. Rampage is good at one thing. Rashad is good at many things. Rampage is getting predictable and (compared to Rashad) slow. Rashad is quickkk and packs a punch. Personally, I’ve found that Rashad always finds a way to win…with the exception of chinese dudes who study karate. :D

I disagree. I’m not sure what the “one thing” Rampage is good at, considering he’s good at just as many things Rashad is. Rashad’s standup is overrated, he drops a ton of rounds with inactivity, and he’s not gonna take down or KO Rampage. I’m not sure there’s really any way for him to win that fight.

He could take him down..

Rashad has great wrestling.. He just hasn’t used it much since he found his comfort zone standing..

Rashad is faster than Page.. It would be a good fight..

Rashad’s wrestling really isn’t that great. There’s a reason he’s more comfortable standing now. And his top control isn’t good at all for a wrestler.

Your right,

I forgot Rampage has soo many other tools, other than his boxing. What else does he have to beat Rashad with?

"I will knock your hair black!"- Ken Shamrock to Tito Ortiz

by FutureChamp on Sep 8, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And no,

His wrestling isnt Dan Henderson quality, but he has a better pedigree than Quinton.

by FutureChamp on Sep 8, 2009 9:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Considering Rampage outwrestled Dan over 5 rounds, I’d say it’s pretty good.

And I think Rampage can beat him with a combination of effective striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control.

http://www.fourouncestofreedom.com

by Beer Monster on Sep 8, 2009 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He didnt outwrestle him,

Dan held his own in that fight, it wasnt some domination for five rounds. Other than that, Keith Jardine buckled Rampage at one point in their fight. If Glass Jaw Jardine can buckle him and survive three rounds, what makes you think Rashad wont do the same and win?

"I will knock your hair black!"- Ken Shamrock to Tito Ortiz

by FutureChamp on Sep 8, 2009 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I said OVER 5 rounds, not FOR 5. Rampage fought Jardine with a jaw injury, remember? Plus, what does Jardine being supposedly glass-jawed have to do with him staggering Quinton?

And, uh, Jardine lost. Rashad isn’t active enough to win a decision. That’s why he’s dropped so many rounds. The only way he wins is by KO, and the last person to KO Rampage in the UFC was…oh yeah, no one.

by Beer Monster on Sep 8, 2009 9:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rashad hits a hell of a lot faster than Jardine and has more power than Jardine.. He is faster than Page and he has a decent chance in the matchup..

We’ll agree to disagree on the wrestling.. Rashad has shown great wrestling. He’s always been the “smaller” guy in almost all his fights.. He’s short for a 205..

Machida via swift death. If Rua comes at Machida with the same punch he knocked down Liddell with he will get hit four times and be on the floor before he fully extends his arm.

This is starting to go the way of the Serra-Hughes fight.

How long did that one take again? 2 years?

by DirtyML on Sep 8, 2009 9:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

How exactly do you figure that? Because Its being pushed back a couple months? Hughes-Serra was scheduled for UFC 79, it happened at UFC 98. If Rampage-Rashad doesn’t happen til UFC 125 then you can talk, until then let’s cool it with the drama.

Rampage is going to use this distraction as an excuse when he loses.

by oousty on Sep 8, 2009 9:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would think with amount of time and money invested in TUF, the UFC would have a contract that wouldn’t allow fighters to back out for BS movie rolls. If I am a marketable fighter, I would just sign on for the show, get the free publicity and let the UFC hype machine sell me for a different endeavor.

I bet this is the last time this happens. Maybe he is afraid of Rashad. I hope not.

So what happens with Machida’s next fight?

by soadtrails on Sep 8, 2009 11:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nothing if they can get Rampage to commit to the January 2nd card, the #1 contender will be established and they can schedule the title fight for April or May.

It’s weird how many MMA fighters give Brock a hard time about doing the fake wrestling thing, when so many of them seem to want to run off at the drop of a hat and make fake movies.

by Call me No Touch on Sep 9, 2009 8:41 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Rashad via being there. Ok let’s move on, what’s next for rashad? Rashad/Lil Nog? Rashad/Couture? Rashad/Cain? Rashad/Thiago? There are plenty of possibilities after such a loss, you can fight top tier guy cause you just lost the belt, and you can fight mid level guys because you got KTFO bad and need to rebound.

You don't look like a Tanaka.
