Probably for the best. A DREAM and Strikeforce champion shouldn’t be fighting in a Super Hulk tournament. It wouldn’t be a TRUE Super Hulk Tournament anyways.
Now we are talking! Minowaman, HMC, Sokoudjou, and ?. Now this thing is WIDE open.
=)
does the super hulk champ get a belt?
also, when you said,
A DREAM and Strikeforce champion shouldn’t be fighting in a Super Hulk tournament.
he shouldn’t have been fighting (even if it’s an exhibition) against Fedor when he’s got real fights lined up already. He’s gonna get slammed several times in the ring, as opposed to sparring with fedor in a gym where it’s padded.

For the best?
Soko was one of the few interesting matchups left for Mousasi at LHW outside oft he UFC. Losing that fight sucks balls, regardless of whether it was part of a ridiculous tournament or not.
This is Japan’s big chance to finally pit Sokoudjou against a giraffe. I know they’ve been itching to make that fight for quite some time since they’ve been teasing it during the intros to every Soko fight.

just great
i already hated that stupid sparring match and now it ruined an interesting fight.
This sucks because it was the closest thing to a legit fight for Gegard on the horizon. Sucks to lose it playing patty cake with Fedor in a tiny show.
Hopefully he heals up quickly and can get some legit fights going.
More evidence for why exhibitions are a complete waste of talent, time and resources. The only exhibition ever worth watching was Apollo Creed vs. Ivan Drago.
You're morbid...

He’s usually fighting for Sengoku.
I say bring back Canseco. There’s probably no chance of that happening, so it’ll probably be one of the big guys that lost in the first round. I can’t really think of any other hulk sized fighters that would fit in with the tournament.
did not know that. He would be an interesting fit.
His management seems to be bringing him along slowly, so I’m not sure if they’d be willing to take this big of a step up. Especially because a victory means he’ll have to fight either a giant or a submission specialist.
But I’d like to see the first fight for sure.
One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
Guy in the middle doesn’t have jeans trousers?
GSP is wonderful and the other guys not?
Only one of them has bottle of water?

sounds like bull shit…an unnamed source eh?… i mean, why cant he be named? this isnt like that Nog rumor where by naming the source he may not have access to the camp anymore
i saw the exhibition match. it was light…wouldnt even call it sparring. gegard was all smiles afterward. i know smetimes you dont feel an injury til later, but i have to believe my own eyes.
i can think of numerous reasons to get out of the superhulk tourny, for example, maybe they didnt like the money being offered for soku…while i doubt soku could win, he does pose some danger and if the financial risk vs reward isnt there..well…
well he did get slammed several times on the ring.

i was actually responding to your post above but it fits better down here
the ring has a pad, 1/2 inch to a full inch usually, below that are typically wood planks that give and bend. the mat at the gym is on top of concrete w/ no give at all.
i’ve been slammed on both and have a pretty strong opinion. it’s not a perfect analogy, but think grass vs artificial turf. also see pro wrestling.
plus, c’mon…conspiracy theory! they’re fun!
ah fuck it, Leland destroys my argument a few posts below.
but I have DVR, how was i supposed to know all that? damn you era of instant gratification!
It seriously had no padding.

This is the result of one of the poorest business decisions ever made (next to fighting Mercer). I feel bad for Mousasi, M1 thought more of the fake fight WWE crap than his future. Hope M1 ponies up his pay.
Mousasi needs to leave M1 and fight just for Strikeforce or the UFC. At least Dana wont make him get in a cage with Lesnar to please the locals and hardcores.
Did anyone post the gate at that M1 event in KC? How did it do in PPV buys? Just am curious as to what the total take was.
PPV outside the US probably wasn’t jack, but it was free on HDNet.

Could the mods do me a favor
And go back to the discussions before this exhibition and the Shinya/Fedor one and Rec everyone who said it was stupid because they could get injured a THOUSAND TIMES?
Thanks. I’ll take care of tracking down and mocking the people who were like, “Nah, it’s cool – don’t be stupid – nothing could happen!”

I still think it’s very rare , if this story is even correct. You can easily injure yourself in training btw…so shit happens
….and yet.
Let’s hope Gegard uses this time to work on his insult skills, because the donkey/horse/pony thing could use work.

Metzger...
Actually, I don’t think this is bullshit. If any of you had actually taken the time to watch the event, you’d have realized that there was a huge FAILURE in putting the ring together. Most notably, Metzger even mentioned that he watched the ring being put up and noted before the exhibition that there was barely any padding underneath the mat. It sounded like there was a lot less padding than he had expected.
Watching the tosses Fedor was throwing and the sound Gegard was making as he hit the floor… it’s no wonder he got hurt. Huge fail on M-1’s part.

I thought the same thing. The ring sounded horrible, no give at all.
How appropriate, You fight like a cow.

You know how Dana doesn't allow his fighters to do amateurish bullshit exhibitions?

and by owning their souls he has made more money off of mma than anyone else, and probably paid mma fighters more than anyone else.
Sometime you have to sell your soul to get what you want.

Ray Mercer would be awesome, he has a comparable ground game to Sokodjou, but a slightly better gas tank, it’s a pick’em fight
Come on....
Soko should be able to easily handle Ray Ray. I doubt he would make the same mistake Timmah did. I mean Kimbo tapped him out!
