Variety.com is reporting that Gina Carano is set to star in a new Steven Soderbergh film titled "Knockout":

"Knockout" casts Carano as a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who is given a second chance to use her skills for constructive purposes. The film is a closer cousin to "La Femme Nikita" and "Kill Bill" than "Million Dollar Baby," in that it doesn’t take place in the fight ring. Rather, Soderbergh considers the film as a flat out action film in the James Bond mold, and will shoot in locations around the world that include Ireland, Turkey and the U.S.

The article also goes on to say that Soderbergh plans on filling out the rest of the cast with named actors in supporting roles. One more high-profile MMA star taking time off from fighting with the acting bug.

Will there be a nude sex scene?

for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.

LMAO, I was going to ask the same thing.

Sometimes you wonder, do they understand the game of football? They have a few drinks and probably the prawn sandwiches, and they don't realise what's going on out on the pitch.

LOL

I was thinking the same thing.

I believe in Posey.

There had better be if they want to build the “girl from the wrong side of the track” angle.

I dislike Matt Hughes.

Soderbergh is known for his nude scenes but I just dont see Carano going for it, she does have that squeaky clean image as “the face of womens MMA” and I think a nude scene from her might make negative headlines

More like make box office gold. They could just say it in the posters, “KnockOut, come see Gina naked”.

for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.

Yes, and there’s nothing more squeaky clean than the idea of two women punching each other in the face til they bleed.

Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

"The Knockout"

I’m just saying….

Will Carano be knocked out in the movie?

I believe in Posey.

by 49er16 on Sep 7, 2009 12:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Probably

and then she’ll work really hard and then make a comeback and the crowd will cheer.

If cung Le disappeared that long to do 5 minutes appearances in shitty movies, I fear we may never see Gina fight again.

Cung Le, Rampage, and Gina. Curse you Hollywood! (you can keep Cung Le)

by Sokonojudo on Sep 7, 2009 12:51 PM EDT reply actions

I feel that Rampage could do great in acting, so I’m a bit divided on whether I’d prefer him as a fighter or an actor. Gina could do huge in acting as well, that might be better than going back to be beaten by Cyborg…

by Orcus on Sep 7, 2009 12:59 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m not divided at all. They do what they got to do but if I have to choose between for example randy couture vs X, and the scorpion, king 2, it’s an easy choice.

by spectaa on Sep 7, 2009 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah, randy can’t act, he should stick to fighting. Rampage though I’m not sure, I have to wait for the movie to make a decision :P

by Orcus on Sep 7, 2009 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions

i wanna see randy in the espendables tho prolly be a better judgement of his acting than a straight 2 dvd sequel 2 a already shitty movie

Variety.com is reporting that Gina Carano is set to star in a new Steven Soderbergh film titled “Knockout”:

Cung Le, Rampage, Jardine and everyone else: THAT is how you start a movie career. haha.

I think Don Frye has the best movie career so far among MMA fighters. You can’t discount Couture’s performance in Big Stan though.

I dislike Matt Hughes.

I don’t care what Gina does. As long as there is a camera there to take pictures.

Production is slated to begin in February 2010. Knockout is an action-packed, female spy story in the vein of The Bourne Identity. All other plot details are being kept under wraps.

In an arrangement very unique to the industry, Soderbergh will forgo his upfront salary, and retain ownership of the film, along with RML.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with a world-class filmmaker like Steven on this project, which is clearly in his sweet spot,” said Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Relativity Media. "Steven’s deal is structured to help control the budget and align the filmmaker and studio to play for the upside. As Steven is sure to make a movie that delivers, we all succeed. More and more filmmakers understand this model, which perfectly pairs our mutual interest

The porn industry remake will be called "Knocked Up"

Starring Vageena Carboner

I am glad that mma fighters are finding other means of making money. MMA just doesn’t pay like Affliction used to.
