Rampage vs. Rashad CANCELLED?
But according to MMABay, a British MMA site with close ties to Jackson's camp, that won't be happening. The site reports that the Evans-Jackson fight has been dumped from the card because Rampage is expected to play the role of B.A. Baracus in the new "A-Team" movie which is currently filming in Vancouver, and he would not have had time to get in full training camp before UFC 107.
UPDATE: The Sun confirmed that Jackson did get the role in "The A-Team".

mma bay?
i think we know not to trust anything on that site. hope it’s not true.
"But according to MMABay"
Do they also report about 1/2 alien celebrity babies?

I thought this at first

I’m tired of always seeing the same shit in a article about something on MMABay. When’s the last time they fabricated something? Because lately, they’ve been doing just fine, unless I missed something.
So when was the last time MMABay fabricated something? Amuse me, please. Because the who “pffft it’s just MMAbay” lines are getting as old as “It’s All Over!!!!!!!!!!!!” at the end of every fight Goldy calls.

Are you actually trying to defend MMABay? Seriously????

That’s a yahoo article he’s quoting. Normally I’d agree about the MMABay stuff, but Cofield is verifying this. That gives it a LITTLE more cred.
http://www.fourouncestofreedom.com
Cofield is attributing it to MMA Bay
with no independent verification.
We’re working to confirm. It could very well be true.
Follow me on Twitter @KidNate
I think the definition of shitty journalism would be to write an article based solely off a post on MMA Bay and report it as fact without independently verifying it, especially considering Yahoo’s close ties to the UFC/Dana.

Well that sucks if its true
I read it on fanhouse who was saying mmabay was the source. I know in the past mmabay has not been credible but who knows maybe they’re turning it around.
Bash me all you want on this but I’m with Dana screw fighters being actors. First Cung Le then Roger Huerta and now Rampage Jackson. I dont mind it if it doesnt take away good fights but Le has defended in god knows how long, Huerta is leaving for good, and now I dont get Rampage/Rashad because Rampage is B.A. Baracus.
First Swick gets injured and now Rampage/Rashad is cancelled, well my day is officially sucking now.
A good friend of mine will be working on the A-Team film (it has not started filming yet)
and he tells me Rampage is not in it.

According to mma fanhouse
Last week Dana confirmed that Rampage had gotten the role.
According to imdb.com both Common and The Game are rumored to be playing BA. No mention of Rampage.
Also, Mtv.com says no.
Proving yet again that at least some of the folks at UK tabloid The Sun are lying liars, MTV has confirmed that UFC champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has not been cast as B.A. Baracus in the coming big screen adaptation of “The A-Team.”
weoweoweo is the best… and I <3 Vera cause he is pogi.
IMDB is not very reliable when it comes to future roles. They had Denzel Washington casted for the Halo movie for 2 months.
LOL @ Denzel in Halo
yeah, i wouldn’t put too much into imdb rumors

I know
but it was the first place I checked anyway. The Mtv article tho says that Rampages manager confirmed that he wasn’t in the movie.
weoweoweo is the best… and I <3 Vera cause he is pogi.
As I said, filming hasn't started yet, so there's no way to know for sure.
Within a week there will be pictures of him on set if he’s doing it.

Trying to get pictures this afternoon.
But he’s quick on his feet, the old man. Definitely joined the cast though. http://www.tinyurl.com/pitydafoo

Even if this happens, it will just be delayed by 2-3 months, not cancelled. It’s not that big of a deal, and will be good for both Rampage and the UFC.

I’m shocked at how little perspective a lot of people have on all this, especially media members.
You wait a couple months more to see a fight. On the other hand Rampage gets a life changing opportunity, everyone involved gets a bunch of press, and there’s a nice title match in its place in December.
by Michael Rome on Sep 4, 2009 6:36 PM EDT reply actions 1 recs
Really? I figured they’d let Randy fight Rashad on that card, and Rampage gets him 3-4 months down the road, regardless of the outcome.
http://www.fourouncestofreedom.com
Michael
As a fan of mma it is frustrating to see good fights get delayed.
Sure is it good for Rampage? I guess. Is it good for the UFC? Maybe. They will get some good press but you are also gonna have the fans that watch TUF and then expect the fight in December and not have it happen.
Look at Hughes-Serra how did that turn out?
First it is Cung Le, then Roger Huerta, and now Rampage. I dont know about you but I dont want to lose a lot of good mma fights to see some very b level movies.
It was a year and a half later. And it still helped the show add a ton of buys, and made a lot of money. Here we’re talking a couple months.
And the A-Team will surely suck, but it’s not a B level movie. We’re talking a lead part in a huge film, a big budget film.
Who knows who MTV contacted. Dave Meltzer had it this week in his newsletter that Rampage has personally approached Dana about it.
It is supposed to happen a couple months later but that could change anything can happen.
Also I dont know how you determined that it was Hughes/Serra that added a ton of buys?
Rashad was coming off his victory over Liddell and the huge UFC 92 event and Machida ko’d Silva on UFC 94 which everyone watched for GSP/Penn 2. I think that had to do with the buyrate and not Hughes/Serra.
Also the mtv thing saying he wasnt was posted 08/26/09 so a lot can change, people.

Just paste that into your browser, for some reason it won’t link, but it looks like Cofield is just quoting the Sun and MMA Bay so not sure we can really consider this confirmation.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.
Whoops, I clicked all the links except the first one. Still, the point remains that the Yahoo article is only recycling the stuff from MMA Bay and The Sun, it’s not like Cofield independently confirmed it.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.
I confirmed it.
Rampage is in town to shoot the flick. Arrived today. He’s three blocks west of me as we speak.

Very cool
photos! photos! :)
Sneak on the set, tell them you’re with the caterer, and get all the info you can :)
weoweoweo is the best… and I <3 Vera cause he is pogi.
I don’t know where fanhouse is getting that Dana White confirmed it.
MMA Bay and the Sun said it was true weeks ago, but since then mtv came out and said that it was false. Rampage hasn’t said anything, and I thought Dana blew it off when it was mentioned during a press conference before or after the last fight.
Rerfresh my memory
did he not turn down a title shot just to fight rashad?

BJ was being held off cards to be bait for a network TV event. If that ain’t happening, and it seems to be not, you’ve gotta put it somewhere. Why not blow the doors off Memphis?

I can confirm this is true.
Rampage is in Vancouver right now. Just spotted on Robson St signing autographs.
MMABay FTW.

So does having to postpone the finale of the...
…biggest Ultimate Fighter series ever, thereby taking two of your best light heavy propsects out of the picture for six months, when you’ve just spent six months having them build up to the fight.

my initial reaction (when there was chatter about this last week) was exactly the same. but… i think the benefits outweigh the risk. they’ll conjure up other compelling 205 matchups, rampage will be in a movie millions of non-ufc fans will see, and we’ll get to the fight eventually.
to think otherwise, is to underestimate to the power of the hollywood machine in my mind. just think of the potential if his characters catches on. Mr. T had his own SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON, BREAKFAST CEREAL, and a million other things that made him a household name. all things a spike reality show (while huge) can’t achieve.
If he’s there now and filming is six weeks shouldn’t he be done middle of next month?
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.
by ufc4 on Sep 4, 2009 9:53 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
He'll be needed about six weeks
That six weeks doesn’t start this morning, and he won’t be able to fully commit to returning to fighting until they know no reshoots are needed, which takes more time still.
http://www.vancouversun.com/mma
One thing I think people are missing here is that Memphis is Rampage’s hometown, and he would have been the biggest draw in Memphis.
