Urijah Faber talks about being close to closing a new deal with Zuffa and plans to fight in January.

"I feel like the WEC PPV model is coming up pretty quick, I feel like there is still a huge demand."

Somebody is shooting him a line of BS. I don’t see WEC being on PPV anytime soon.

Or ever

I think the only cards I would even consider paying for would be for a Mike Brown title defence – his fights against Garcia and Faber were gripping stuff.

But I wouldn’t even consider that if they tried to charge the same as the UFC, especially considering that the majority of the lightweight and welterweight divisions just seem like feeders for the UFC these days. How long before we see Cerrone competing in the bigger leagues?

From what I hear, WEC will keep on going and they wont move the WEC stars onto the UFC, so no merge anytime soon. WEC will now try to have one show a month and venture into different regions and introduce PPV by mid-end of next year. Ballsy moves by the WEC. Very risky.

Very risky is putting it bluntly…I don’t know if they have the talent pool for all that. They really need a reality show or something to boost viewership. Not to mention Versus no longer being on DirectTV really sucks for this plan.

No kidding

Who exactly is going “Hmmm…I can’t wait until Zuffa takes away these free shows and makes me pay for them”?

Bingo… I love watching fights, and try to at least pay for most of them; I’m not sure I’d shell over money for something I’m so used to getting for free.

It would be like a girlfriend who you’ve been sleeping with for years suddenly asking you to pay for a lay.

I have to concur with everyone else here

WEC on PPV is a terrible idea and Urijah might be screwed. They’re wasting time, money, and talent building up a brand that has no value as anything but a farm league. And they’re wasting talent who shouldn’t be in a farm league.

Urijah should in be in the UFC headlining PPVs. The only reason he’s not a huge star is because he’s not on UFC PPV.

Remember when the Versus deal started? They had these “Watch out!” ads in the subways here in NYC featuring him. I was pretty amped since I’d never even seen a UFC ad in the subway. The people I’d gotten into MMA saw it and immediately thought “He’s not good enough for the UFC, so he must be a joke”

And considering some of the sad fights the UFC has put on that suggests that he’s garbage. Whether we like it or not, TUF has become part of the UFC. If the featherweights aren’t’ considered good enough for TUF & the UFC, then publicly it makes them look worthless.

Why would anyone spend their evening watching (psychologically) lower-grade stuff. This isn’t football or baseball where the country has a childhood connection to the game and playing it through school and general culture.

He would have had a hard enough time headlining when he was the champ, he sure as hell isn’t gonna headline UFC PPV’s when he has lost to the current champ twice.

Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

I was speaking more to lost potential. The comment could be said of Mike Brown or anyone there. UFC fans would’ve loved watching Torres fight. But as you said …
