Chicago: Bars to watch the fights?

Hey People,

Im going to be in Chicago the weekend of the UFC 103 and the Mayweather fight for the Steelers/Bears game.  I really have no clue about the area and where to go other than what I've seen on the man v. food episode. I was wondering if anyone was from the Chicago area that knows of a bar or goes to a bar in the downtown area that shows UFC ppvs and Boxing ppv's.

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

calling Mike Fagan...Mike Fagan to the front desk please...

I was always in the burbs in my time in IL, Mike lives downtown (I’m pretty sure) so he should be able to help with this one.

I’m in Rogers Park, which is a bit away from “downtown downtown.” I watched UFC 67 at a place called Player’s and UFC 84 at some place who’s name escapes me. Both were in or near the Lakeview area. Pretty sure both show fights regularly.

I can do some research about places more near the loop.

Please do… I’m staying at the Club Quarters in the loop, how convenient.

You might want to check out UFCbars.com. Not sure how updated the list is, but it’s as good a place to start.

Still, you staying in the part, you can never go wrong in Downtown.

What a coincidence...

I, too, will be leaving L.A. Friday night to Chicago for the Bears/Steelers game and am looking for a place to watch both events on Saturday night… Now, I’ve been to Chicago once before around this time last year and its hard to believe there isn’t a spot to watch the fights..(Downtown is huge). I do remember seeing an ESPN Zone somewhere downtown… hopefully they show them there as that’s the first spot we’ll try!

by MiCe on Sep 3, 2009 6:13 PM EDT up reply actions

yea theres gotta be someplace downtown. espn zone is a good idea. i’ll bet they are showing both of them.

Hop in a cab and head up to John Barleycorn—lots of tvs, good food, scantily-clad pretty women and a nice outdoor area. Its in Lincoln Park, which is just north of the Mag Mile area.

Dont go to the Barleycorn in Wrigleyville. Go to the Lincoln Park one.

Normally I'd give you shit as I'm a White Sox fan...

but we both are fans of underachieving shitbag teams this year.

Yeah… probably not. But hey… that isn’t really a “MUST-SEE” thing for me, so I don’t care.

Sox are the mediocre team they were projected to be.

Cubs on the other hand…

Cubs, on the other hand, are the most underachieving pieces of shit I’ve seen in a long ass time. I can’t remember a team being this terrible with such talent. Or, it could be that most of these guys aren’t talented.
