Gegard Mousasi Talks About His Upcoming Fight in November:
"In November my second fight for Strikeforce will take place but my opponent has not been determined. I heard some rumors like Kevin Randleman, Paulo Filho and Mike Whitehead. Whitehead would be the most logical pick because he recently won against Randleman. I’ve also heard a rumor that Arona is fighting again and it would be great if Strikeforce can pick him up. We can use a new light heavyweight fighter."
"... I know that the best fighters in my weight fight in the UFC but I’m still young and very happy with Strikeforce as a company. I’ve signed a contract with them and I will fight the fights they give me."
"There are so many things possible in a short time, maybe I lose two times and the UFC doesn’t want me at all. That’s why I focus on one fight at a time. My goal in the future is of course to become UFC champion but I’m not in a rush. I’m happy with Strikeforce now and that’s the most important things. I’m now champion and want to defend with honor and dignity. It’s up to fighters like Fedor, Alistair and me to show great fights and make Strikeforce look good. I still believe Strikeforce is the company with the most growth potential. By the way maybe the UFC champions will come to Strikeforce and challenges us for the belt (laughs)."

Please did you not see the Filho in his last fight with Alex Schoenauer and Mike Whitehead should not even be brought up in the same sentence to fight any top 15 LHW. If Kevin RAndleman could almost KO Whitehead and catch him what do you think Mousasi would do ? Come on please just get this contract over leave M-1 and go to the UFC Mousasi.

He'll be in the UFC by 2011
I would like to see him fight Fihlo, followed by Arona. If that fills out his contract (anyone know how many fights are left?) then he should make the jump to UFC, wherein he probably needs just one-two wins to be the top contender.
I love this guy, would love to see him fight Anderson more than I want him to fight Machida.

Everyone take note because you’re about to see a live “case study” unfold on why Zuffa will never be challenged.
Gegard can be the best 205 lber in the world…. But he will never be a “Fedor” and he will never attain that status unless he fights in the UFC.
“Fedor” was created when pride was on top and had the best heavyweight division. That will never happen again as Zuffa has locked everything up.
Right now “fedor” is an anomaly in the marketplace which will in all probability never happen again as you need a mechanism to produce a “fedor”… a fighters talent alone doesn’t matter if he cant prove it against other fighters who matter.
Look at Jake Shields… he has to move up in weight to fight b-level guys.
Unless Gegard moves up and beats Fedor himself (in which case Fedor is then marginalized) there’s nothing really he can do.
Micheal Jordan wouldn’t have been shit playing in the european basketball leagues.
I personally believe Gegard is the real deal and he has a great future in front of him… but what will be transpiring in the next year will be very revealing into the “invisible” hurdles competition faces.
Most of the time “ratings”, ppv numbers, counter programming, etc.. is talked about but this “invisible” hurdle of being able to produce a lyoto machida, Fedor, Anderson, GSP, BJ Penn, etc… is paramount to overcome if there’s any possibility for longevity.
Fedor is " THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS" and when he loses or if Brock wins his next 3… GAME OVER, THANKS FOR PLAYING.

no.
Their heads hurt when complex subjects are discussed so out of frustration they have nothing better to say so instead of arguing or debating the subject matter… it’s “I dont understand what you say so up your nose with a rubber hose”.
insult me… but at least try to counter my point.
When has there ever been discussion about the gravity of competition in relation to market position and dominance in the clarity of what I outlined above??? Gegard Mousasi being the perfect example… nowhere.
The simple insight of describing and outlining how another “fedor, machida, GSP, Anderson or BJ” will be improbable to create outside of the UFC in Market reality isn’t significant?
If im wrong then please debate and argue your points…
Explain to me how a guy like Gegard can ever get to “Fedor, Anderson, Machida, GSP, BJ” type status outside of the UFC?
Ill make it easier for you… let’s go down even another level… How can Gegard get to the status of a "Hendo, Nate, Vitor, Rampage, Fitch, Alves, Florian, Sanchez, Big Nog, Lesnar, Level?
Ill save you some time on the answer: Shields couldn’t even get to the “hendo, Fitch” level and he has a way better record than Gegard will assuming he beats everyone in strikeforce’s 205 division.
This one simple reality trumps ratings, ppv numbers, etc… Hence making it a very important point of discussion.

It’s just glaringly obvious. Maybe that’s why it’s being discussed “nowhere.” There’s really nothing to discuss.
If you think people are rec-ing comments like these because you’re blowing their minds with insight, rather than because you’re confirming their preconceived notions from a position of assumed insider credibility, then suffice it to say I think you’re wrong.

To me it seems that preconceived notions play a big role in why people crap on his post too. Sometimes logic says some really smart things and sometimes he is full of crap (just like everyone else) the difference is that there are people out there who’s preconceived notions don’t allow them to actually look at what he says with unbiased eyes, and yes that most definitely goes both ways here. On this topic it is pretty clear what he is saying is how things are working out, which makes me wonder why anyone would crap on it or act like it’s not a very valid and obvious point.

everyone blogs and writes about “game changing events” which never seem to answer the one question I posed here.
I take Gegard Mousasi who is a perfect example… and without needing to discuss ppv, revenues, ratings (what’s most often talked about) I outline why it’s improbable for him to ever get to a “fedor” like status oustide of the UFC or really anyone for that matter… and the implications of what that means for any org trying to break through in the industry
and that has no “point” on a thread discussing Gegard and his future?
I have no idea why my post is green.. and I dont care.
why? is that why you’re upset? are you jealous? are you butt hurt my post is green and yours isn’t? you can have the green post if that makes you feel better.

I heard He will Stay With M-1 Even After His Contract Is Up With Strikeforce
I’ve just came from the M-1 office and saw the plans for 2010, I can’t say anything about it but it looks good! It will be a year with a lot of events and a unique way for up-and-coming talents to put themselves in the big picture. I started at shows like that and it’s good to see that I grow with the company. I’m grateful they help me make the right decisions. M-1 has been in the press a lot lately and a lot of the attention has been bad. Some fans and people only hear one side of the story and that’s a pity. I’m not into politics so I don’t say anything about it but the only thing I can see is that they love the sport and invested a lot in giving talented fighters a platform to perform.
Gegard Mousasi: I think it’s great. There will be some exciting matchups for the fans. Business-wise it’s also very smart for all three parties. I have two fights left with Strikeforce, after that we have to see but I want to be loyal to people who gave me a chance and have been good to me and have the right intentions with me.

To me that doesn’t seem like he will necessarily stay. The second part of the post is a lot more promising, as the first part only seems to apply to their M-1 challenge cards where Mousasi shouldn’t be fighting in anyways. He can still have M-1 management and fight in the UFC, especially if he tells them to get it done.

I agree with the premise of the post, but AA never said anything of the sort.
He always left the possibility of re-signing with the UFC open even when it was obvious it was not going to happen. Had the Rogers fight turned out differently, he would probably be back in the UFC right now. Unfortunately, the back-to-back KO losses pretty much demolished his market value.

The joke answer would involve a Eastern Promises reference and the serious answer would probably involve him thinking he can stay with M-1 as his management and go to the UFC too or maybe him not wanting to be buried on cards now(which may happen if he dogs M-1 while still signed to them).

My goal in the future is of course to become UFC champion
Gegard fortunately has way better people around him than Fedor… and he speaks english!
M-1when they broght him in to extend his contract: "yes my frien, we will do business in good way… we give you percentage in M-1 and you give me your life. we do co-promotion business – other people handle the “promotion” part we handle the “co” part"
Mousasi: “This sounds great… lets complete our current contract and then we’ll negotiate this”.
Mousasi when gets back home: “BITCH, PLEASE….”

Well Tito tends to speak before he thinks, Huerta thought he was going to hollywood full time, and if I remember, AA just got a boatload of cash from Affliction after being buried on the undercard in his last fight.
Also, Gegard seems like a pretty classy dude. I could be wrong, though.
