Kimbo Slice Brought a Gun to Training?

Justin Wren, who is (obviously) a Ultimate Fighter Season 10 fighter, had an interview with Tapout Radio, in which he proclaims
"He got arm-barred and Kimbo really doesn't like to tap. He didn't tap and the guy hurt his arm so he came back in there with a gun," Wren told TapouT radio. "Cops were called and everyone went nuts."

Now if this is true, this is a huge blow to Kimbo Slice's personality. The Street Certified image was something that the UFC and Elite XC were trying to get rid of, and try to make him an MMA fighter. I mean, Kimbo says he is a professional and he is there to fight, but obviously he still has not adapted to the ground and once again blew things out of the water. You should NEVER bring a gun inside of a mixed martial arts center. That to me is a slap in the face to the people you train with, the trainers, and to himself. Kimbo needs to grow up fast in MMA since he has one of the hottest spotlights on him at all times, and if this is true, I hope the UFC does not allow him on the TUF finale and I hope he gets blacked balled from MMA gyms... but I'll wait and see if this report is fully true.

And I still doubt that it’s true. As said there, if it were true then somebody (police, teammate, neighbor, etc) would have said something by now. Kimbo is too big a name for this to have gone unreported.

Kimbo seems to get that kind of behavior would not go over well for his hopes of getting into the UFC.

kimbo may not be the smartest man....
but i seriously doubt he would put his carreer in jeopardy by doing something this stupid….if this was true then how could any responsible promoter put him on a card. itd be a safety issue for other fighters and fans…plus how come seth petruzelli is still alive? lol

In addition to all the other people questioning the veracity of this story, I’d like to chime in and question another element of this post:
You should NEVER bring a gun inside of a mixed martial arts center.
You should never bring a gun to your place of business/recreation for the purpose of threatening somebody. The fact that martial arts are involved is really a secondary detai.

I guess know one really read the rumor.. It wasn’t that he brought a gun to TUF…
The original story (rumor) was that he was in Clearwater, FL training at ATT (prior to the filming of TUF).. He was training with a guy that went hard on him and caught him in an armbar and since Kimbo doesn’t tap, the guy torqued a little too much and Kimbo felt the guy was trying to really hurt him. He left the gym and came back in with a gun..
I don’t know how much I would put into the rumor other than it probably did happen, but how it went down has been blown out of proportion IMO..

I live in Orlando, FL & heard a story of this.. I don’t think it was as bad as it was made out to be though.. I also dont know how much I would put into it, considering as close as I am from ATT & how news in the MMA world travels fast, I only heard about it a few days before it got posted on the net.. But it was supposed to have happened months before he even accepted the TUF contract.. So I’m pretty sure it would have leaked before now…
If it did happen, I’m pretty sure Kimbo didn’t pull the gun on the guy either.. The story I heard was that the sparring session got heated, Kimbo felt the guy was really trying to break him arm, there was no physical tap, but Kimbo made a verbal gesture and the guy kept torquing the arm anyways. Kimbo got mad and they got into a little shoving match. A few people had come over to kind of get in the way.. Kimbo felt like the guy was trying to damage him & since he didn’t really know anybody there he went to get his gun in case the guy or his friends started shit with him.. They stopped him before he got back in the gym and then a yelling match ensued.. They seperated the guys and everything was squashed before Kimbo left.. It was no biggie.. But again, that’s just a rumor and since I wasn’t there, I wouldn’t hold too much of it as truth..

No not really… He didn’t even get inside with the gun.. He didn’t pull a gun on anyone.. He didn’t point the gun at anyone.. He merely went to his car and grabbed it.. It wasn’t like he made a threat to shoot anyone.. He didn’t run to his car and grab his gun and start threatening people.. At least the story I got it wasn’t like that..
It was he calmly went to his car and grabbed his gun. He was stopped before getting inside the gym with it and he said he only grabbed it incase they were going to try to jump him.. He was at ATT & he was around a bunch of guys he really didn’t know to well and the guy he was sparring with was being a little to rough for a sparring session and Kimbo thought the guy was really trying to hurt him or break his arm so he couldn’t fight.. But again, this is all “SPECULATION” and I honestly dont believe too much of it.. I wouldn’t be shocked if it were true, but again I wouldn’t buy into it too much is all I’m saying.. I live in Florida and with the way news travels, if it indeed did happen, we would have heard about it long ago.. This wasn’t something that happened last month.. It was before he even went to Vegas for TUF… “supposedly”..

If he tried to take a gun in for any reason then it’s a fairly big issue. If he was worried about getting jumped inside then why would he try to go back in after he had already walked out? Once you get into your car then you don’t have to worry about the guys inside jumping you any more you can just leave if you felt threatened, there is no reason to go back in with a gun unless you are looking for trouble. I don’t really buy the story at all but if it is true and was trying to go back in with a gun (for any claimed reason) then it is a big deal.

That’s why I said if it were true, it didn’t go down as rumored because we never heard about it it until last week.. So if there’s any truth to the rumor, it wouldn’t be as perceived.. Maybe he happen to carry the gun in with him before he went in to train ?? I know a few guys that have permits to carry and they bring them in to the gyms because they dont want to leave them in their cars, for the fear of someone breaking in and stealing it..

That’s an actual fight, in practice you don’t just tough it out, and you certainly don’t get pissed when you get injured because you were too much a badass to tap.

I have major respect for guys who tough it out no matter what while caught in a dangerous sub. Huerta & the Gracie (cant remember which one) that had the Kimura from hell locked on him & refused to tap. There is no reason not to tap in practice, but in an actual fight it is up to the individual fighter.

I thought the rumor was that this happened while he was training at ATT, NOT in the TUF house. BTW, there is a reason that Bas didn’t want to train Kimbo anymore.

They won’t let the guys bring books or radios into the TUF house, why in the world would they let a guy bring a gun?Heck the way some seasons have acted I wouldn’t be surprised if they went in and took all the sharp knives out of the TUF house. I thought it was pretty blatantly obvious that this was something that happened outside of TUF but I guess people didn’t get that.

If it happened in the TUF house then we definitely would of had confirmation before now and Kimbo would already be done int he UFC. They don’t let the fighters bring books into the TUF house why would they allow someone to have a gun? Just because the guy saying it also happens to be on the show doesn’t mean anything, guys do train with each other all the time before and after TUF is over. Heck two guys on Rashad’s team on the show train with him outside of the show too, the MMA world isn’t that big.
