Kerry Vera vs. Kim Couture Agreed for Strikeforce, Possibly One Week After Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera
Promoted from the FanPosts by Kid Nate.
Randy Couture fill face Brandon Vera in the main event of UFC 105, and now Strikeforce is looking to build up on the rivalry and hype that the fight brings, by trying to set up a battle between their wives one week after they face off. Sherdog has the scoop:

Kim Couture and Kerry Vera have verbally agreed to meet in a 135-pound women’s bout for Strikeforce, sources from both fighter’s camps have confirmed. Bout agreements are expected to be signed shortly.
The bout is a possibility for a proposed Nov. 20 event, although Strikeforce officials could not confirm the date or a venue for the proposed event.
Kim Couture (1-1), Randy's ex-wife, is coming off a TKO victory over Lina Kvokov on her Strikeforce debut on November last year.
Kerry Vera (1-0), much like her husband Brandon, is a muay thai expert who won the reality show "Fight Girls", a series based on female muay thai fighters. She made her MMA debut by defeating Leslie Smith at Bellator VII this May.

According to Sherdog, Kim Couture’s record is 1-1. She got owned in her first fight (vs. Kim Rose; may or may not have been a ‘real’ MMA fight, can’t remember) and won against Kvokov who clearly did not want to be there. Putting her in there against a proven muay thai specialist is murder.

yeah, i placed her record in the post..
Kim is tough.. 3 rounds with a broken jaw and she didn’t get stopped.. and she rebounded well by TKO-ing her last opponent..
We still have a lot of unknowns with Kerry.. She’s just came off her debut that was a decision win and she can strike, but we haven’t how good her ground game is.
good fight IMO.. and excellent business move by Strikeforce.

Other than Brandon not wanting to see her fight
Hesitance to learn the ground game was the reason it took her this long to transition to MMA. Kim is tough so I think Kerry wins on points if she keeps it standing. Kim should have the better ground game if she still trains with Drysdale though.

Oops, sorry, Anton. I could have sworn Kim’s record was 1-0 in your text… Perhaps I really should get better glasses.

I will grant that she is tough, but calling her win against Kvokov is being generous. As I recall, the fight started and Kvokov immediately started turning away and covering up. As Ihasafi said, she clearly didn’t want to be in the ring.
I think Vera takes this by fighting back.
This is silly.
You can’t on the one hand compete with the UFC, as Fedor/Rogers vs. Lesnar/Carwin, and on the other hand act like the UFC’s sissy little brother, with the wives fighting each other after the husbands fight.
they’re not competing with them in this case.. They’re gonna use the UFC’s momentum to make their show sell more, and that’s a pretty good move IMO.
Imagine if Vera and Couture has an epic battle, then both of them will be cornering their wives one week later with blackeyes and stuff..that’s good for business.
(Randy will still corner Kim even if they broke up right?)

Actually...
This was in the works BEFORE the UFC made the UFC 105 matchup official.
Kim Couture has been scheduled to fight in Nov since she missed her Aug. 15th fight due to her divorce with Randy. Kerry was signed early September.
=)
uhuh..
Kim Couture was scheduled on November.. and Kerry Signed with the promotion early Sept.. Doesn’t mean the fight was in the works a long time ago because they just offered the fight recently..
what are you trying to spin here?

You’re forgetting the Supremacy school of matchmaking, where someone, somewhere is currently working on setting up a matchup with every possible combination of fighters that isn’t signed to the UFC.
If you take any 2 non-zuffa fighters, someone is working on getting them a fight somewhere.

being talked about, and in the works are different… Dana said they have talked about tons of stuff with the WEC.. doesn’t mean a merge was in the works for years now.

Really?
Taking shilling to new heights supremacy?
I wonder if Randy cheers for Kerry Vera.
Randy may be in Kim’s corner, which makes the fight very interesting since Brandon will be in Kerry’s corner. =)

surprised by the negative reaction to this
strikeforce needs more recognizable names in their women’s division (and in general)… and it’s not some new revelation that every promotion outside of the ufc, tries to piggyback of their popularity.
could be a fun fight too. are there more experienced female fights that deserve the spotlight sooner? probably… but i can’t blame em for going this route.
Kerry Vera v. Kim Maiden-Name
This is interesting. Brandon will smash Randy, then Kerry will smash what’s-her-face.

Their housekeepers will fight next month, and their kids will brawl on New Years Eve. This is some WWE shit here
Why not make it an inter-gender tag team match.

Couture’s son is a MMA fighter I think.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
Yep, although he still hasn't gone pro.
Got dropped in his last fight too. Then caught his over eager opponent with a sub.

How self absorbed do you have to be to tattoo your own name on yourself… Christianne Santos has done this as well

I feel so uncomfortable looking at that picture with Randy’s expression for some reason. :(
Call me old-fashioned but I am no fan of watching women beat each other bloody…..only a fan of Cat-Fights that end up with both women tearing their clothes off.
Totally with you, man.
I also get nervous when I see one driving a car. /fistbump

Vera wins easily.
And this is a stupid marketing ploy.

I Don't Get The Hate...
This is a much better fight than Kim vs Tate. Both Kerry and Kim have some name recognition, both are exciting fighters, and both have only 1 or 2 MMA fights on their record. Kim has been training in MMA longer than Kerry has, so, I think its a good matchup.
Showtimes running the show
SF are headed in a really pointless direction. This fight, wtf?? Have they seen Kim Couture fight? She’s not even married to Randy anymore ffs, not that it makes a difference. I don’t see actual mma people thinking this fight was a good idea.
This is the work of tv exec’s. Probably the same stupid fuckers that came up with those dumbass pre-fight animated dummy things that SF show. You know, Frank Shamrocks tactical breakdowns which make NO SENSE whatsoever.
SF will crash and burn at this rate They gave up too much power to get on tv.
Maybe they're trying to build up Kerry Vera
And not couture.. Ever think of that? …and if somehow Kim beats an accomplished kickboxer in Vera, then she proves she is a real fighter.. Win-win for strikeforce.
Other MMA writers have liked this matchmaking also.. You didn’t see that too?
Is your anger for strikeforce causing rage blackouts? Haha :)

I wouldn’t call it hate. The thing is, tho, that Kim lost her first fight and her second fight was barely a fight. It resembled this more than an MMA bout.
