Well
he was doing fine (point-wise), except for the whole ‘walking into the punch’ part.

Meh,
it was still close. So I really dont see what would be different the next time they fought. He couldnt hurt Dan & in all likelihood would have ended up getting caught at some point. Who knows though.

I agree
Bisping has to add something to his game to compete at the top level. His boxing is very good, but he has no power so his opponents have no fear.
He would be dangerous tho if he learned to punch hard tho.

Very true.
He seems very fast & accurate, but with not much behind those shots. If he is facing a dangerous striker who has nothing to fear from his strikes he will be in trouble every time.

unfortunately for him, you can’t teach power.
The problem with fighters like Bisping is that they can out-point someone all day long but their opponents never need to worry about being viciously KO’d. On the other hand, when he’s fighting someone like Hendo or Marquardt, he’s always one punch away from being put to sleep no matter how well he’s doing up until then.
I never really liked Bisping but he gets much more hate than he deserves. Hendo on the other hand is my least favorite fighter of all time. What a douche.

It seems to me that too many
people take a very personal stance towards fighters who are in fact people that we really do not know. From comments I have heard I think that Bisping is very cocky & could probably work on that but that is how he is. Hendo seems pretty dull at least from the little I have heard from him, so I am not sure how you can call the man a douche unless you have some personal history that I dont know about.

I think the cheap shot on Bisping, when he was unable to protect himself, was pretty douchy.

I agree with you about the cheap shot.
But I think that Bisping kind of brought on extra animosity by all the trash he talked. Not that I am saying he deserved it, but you cant really complain that a guy goes the extra mile do beat your ass after you run your mouth about how much better a fighter you are for three months.

Bisping didn’t say anything thaaat bad. A little trash talk to hype the fight up isn’t reason enough warrant a cheap shot after being brutally ko’d. That lacked class and was far worse than anything Bisping had done or said.
I think Hendo came off as the bigger douche bag when all was said and done.

the funny thing is that no one is talked about that..
Everyone was too busy whining about brock’s antics, while hendo’s shot was (in my opinion) the one that should’ve been brought up more since it was more dangerous.

ummmmm
yeah we did. I recall well talking about how cheap it was, but that was during the time of the unmentionable, so everyone was busy trying to out-wit each other with their Bisping bashing.

we..BE readers..
but i meant Journalists.. everyone was writing about Brock, hardly anyone wrote about that cheap shot.

LOL
I was cracking up on here yesterday & thought you would end up with a timeout. Did you say something bad about Machida or something?

About Machida?? No, I’ve been a fan of his for a long time.

Just wondering
because I know how big of a Machida fan “she” apparently is so I just figured that. lol

I was not saying that
what Bisping said was overly bad. What I said was that when you choose to run your mouth about a guy you are about to face you cant really blame him for being extra amped up about beating your ass. It was most definitely a cheap shot & I brought it up right after the fight here, but a one time dumb decision doesnt make me think the guy is a douche.

It only takes one bullet to turn a man from Mr. Nice Guy to Mr. Murderer.

This is true.
But the same could be said about each of us. I havent seen anything else from Henderson to make me call him a douche so I am willing to forgive what hopefully was a one time bad decision.

I know.
This whole thread started up because I was wondering why that cauliflower dude thought Henderson was a douche. Just funny to me.

we don’t need to know a fighter personally to dislike them. usually it’s their personalities or lack of that makes us fans/haters. they are public figures, and as such they are open to criticism. I don’t like brock for the antics he pulls, that’s my right as a fan. I don’t like fedor for the whole fedor vs ufc thing, that’s also my right as a fan, even though he seems like a stand up guy when being interviewed. dan is just so painfully dull, it’s like he has no personalities at all, it’s not enough to hate on the guy, but it’s enough to make me not care much for him either…
by orcus on Sep 22, 2009 12:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That is my point though.
You can not care for a fighter for the tiny bit of insight that we get into their true personalities. But to call a guy a douche without knowing him personally is too far for me. To each his own I guess.

He needs to do something. Maybe he can learn the Anderson Silva back-up-KO punch?
by mythbuster on Sep 22, 2009 11:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He seems humbled by the whole experience.
for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.

Even as a Brit, who is a big Bisping fan
he seemed to be in deep water severly struggling to swim against Hendo. He was continuously circling left towards Hendo’s right hand, which he had mentioned being the real danger in pre fight interviews, even with his corner telling him not to on numerous occasions during and inbetween the first two rounds. I agree with the comments made that his boxing is good, he is an accurate puncher, but he doesnt have one punch KO power. Like others have said, that’s not something you can teach. You either have the heavy hands to finish guys quickly or you dont. Technique plays a part obviously, but you need the natural power.
I do however think the cheap shot from Hendo was pretty poor after the way he’d spoken about Bisping before the fight. He made Bisping out to be cocky and arrogant (which granted, is true), yet he made himself out to be the honorable one. To throw the shot in the way he did and then make the comments he did after the fight on his reason for doing so, threw everything pre fight out the window for me.

Something that pretty much no one has said, and quite honestly would make an excellent Judo Chop, was Hendo’s footwork in that fight. Bisping wasn’t able to circle to Hendo’s left because Dan was aggressively cutting off that angle. Too often, we see fighters chase someone who’s circling away as opposed to cutting off the cage. Hollywood was able to do that and that was a big, big reason why he won. Everyone says Bisping made the mistake circling to Dan’s right, but Dan was forcing him to do that with his footwork.
by KrmtDfrog on Sep 22, 2009 4:08 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think that falls into Bisping not having a power shot. Dan could go wherever he wanted without fear of retaliation, while Bisping was forced “away” from Hendo. Credit to Dan for seeing it, but it’s an easy strategy to implement when there’s nothing to prevent it.
