Dancing With The Stars Featuring Chuck Liddell - Community Live Discussion
I'd like to say that watching an MMA superstar on a celebrity dancing competition is a once in a lifetime thing for us. But let's be honest, someone else will probably be doing this again in a few years (Roy Nelson?).
Still, you all know you're going to watch it. So rather than be a cool guy and pretend you won't be, join the BE community in watching the show unfold. Just look at that picture and tell me you're not at the very least intrigued.
I will throw this rule out there. Any sort of homophobic comment or anything that clearly violates our site rules will be met with an immediate, no argument ban in these comments. We want to have fun with this, but this is obviously the kind of thing that could lend itself to people getting out of hand. So behave dammit.
[UPDATE] by Nick Thomas: Vote for Chuck at (800) 868-3402 or at ABC.com with an email address. Chuck's scores were 6/10, 5/10 and 5/10.

Don’t assume we are trying to act cool when we say we’re not going to watch it.
I won’t.
It doesn’t interest me in the slightest,
Agreed...
I can’t watch it. Especially when Monday Night Football is on.

Leland’s right, MNF comes first so I will wait until afterwards to watch it on DVR and only watch Chuck’s, Natalie Coughlin’s and maybe Michael Irvin’s since I don’t really care for the rest of the cast.

Wish I could watch MNF instead. However, I’m married and we only have 1 TV in the condo. I’ve suffered through the past few seasons of Dancing With the Stars, at least there’s someone that I care about this season.

My condolences. This is one of the drawbacks of being married. Whatever SHE likes on TV, you have to like ‘cause unless you have more than one TV, that’s the way it is going to be.
Which brings me to this point, bigtim :
GET YOURSELF ANOTHER TV SET!!! They don’t cost THAT much these days.
Actually have another TV, it’s just sitting in the basement. We get free cable through the building, but it’s not connected to any other rooms besides our living room. Eventually I’ll split it off and run the cable to another room, but I’ve been too busy/lazy to do so.
We have a pretty good system. I get to watch most of what I want (Bears, Cubs, Florida State, MMA stuff, Lost) but I have to put up with her stuff too (Dancing with the stars, the Bachelor, Grey’s anatomy, Food network). It’s the price I pay being married to a beautiful woman I suppose.

make sure not to set up a TV on your room though
there was a study by some university that TV on the bedroom = 50% less sex, and in a marriage i don’t have to tell you that you have to get as much as you can :P
I think also arguing with your wife over what to watch on TV also leads to less sex and more “sleeping on the couch”. LOL.
naw, we can argue with them, but we all have our ways to get back into “title contention” with a little smooth talk. what you can’t change though is if she’s watching something on tv that interests her and there won’t be any smooth talk that will change their minds into sex. I live in a two floor house, the TV is downstairs, it’s much easier for her to have sex than to walk downstairs to watch tv hehe
hey, don't complain about Food network...

I really only interested in this to see how Chuck and mma in general are portrayed. Are they going to use the phrase mma or just ufc? Im really hoping they dont take the usual mainstream media point of view with it.
I’ve never watched this show but I will cuz Chuck is on it. I think its a great thing for MMA that he’s on it. I only hope he last for more than a show or 2. You would think more people would be behind him and tune in but MMA fans tend to be the biggest dicks in the world and would rather trash the idea or say watching football would be much better to watch. Just try and watch the show and for once give the guy a shot. Just becuz he’s not fighting doesnt mean we cant watch. I mean rampage is gonna look like an idiot on the A-Team but I’ll still watch him… like most people.

If you want to watch
I recommend TIVO/DVR’ing the show. If you haven’t watched the show over the seasons like I obsessively have, a few notes:
1. If you are watching on TIVO/DVR after MNF (I’m on the West Coast, so I don’t have much of a conflict) fast forward through all the backstage interviews. Samantha Harris is beyond annoying. I do enjoy the judges comments, and all the fluff they film during the week.
2. My husband finds it much easier to watch when he obsesses over one dancer. Her name is Cheryl Burke.
3. There is almost no chance of a wardrobe malfunction. :(
This is the first week, so you’ll see a relatively simple dance – either a Cha Cha, Quickstep, Fox trot or Waltz.
If you’re going to watch how Chuck does, watch his feet (he needs to learn to stay on his toes, which will be hard, considering I’m mocking him for being flat footed all the time) and to work on his shoulders, keeping them level and non hunched over (good luck on that too, sigh) and having graceful hands (another thing I yell at Chuck from my TV, telling him to get his hands up.)
No overwhelming favorites so far to me, but you can never count out the Olympian. I am also rooting on Mark Dascascos, who is the Chairman on Iron Chef America.

Karina Smirnoff's body makes up for it.
Miguel Torres- "I'm gonna give him a taste of the East Chicago Waterfall."
Rashad Evans- "That sounds disgusting."
God, so good
"That feeling after you win and they raise your hand... it's like you have this energy that releases from your body, and it's like you mingle with the cosmos, and you feel omnipotent"
Why don’t we just have Chuck vs the Iron Chef guy? Speaking of which, I was watching Iron Chef the other night, yes I like it, and Dave Batista was the guest judge. Talk about surreal.
"I will do nothing lightly. When I walk, I will walk heavily. When I fight, I will fight with conviction. When I speak, I will speak strongly. When I love, I will love with everything"
I actually got a weird look and laugh combo from my girlfriend when I noticed Batista was one of the guest judges. I was doing something, either kissing her shoulder or rubbing her back and out of the corner of my eye I see this massive guy and blurt out “holy shit, is that Batista?”

Low Scores
With the phone in vote Chuk has a chance to make it into next week. Plus who really thinks Tom Delay is going to be a force.
I think he might get booed…

I'm praying
That Chuck hits Donnie with a looping overhand right. God I want that to happen.

So…..does this mean that he’s gonna be “Twinkle toes” instead of Trigg??

Thats exactly what he was. He seemed like he was unsure if he should play up the part of the fighter. Example, he kept hesitating when the camera was on him to put up his fist in typical fighter style. I am kinda glad, I want to see Chuck open up more.
for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.
That made me feel old.
My mom watches the show regularly, and this was my first time ACTUALLY watching it instead of passing by.
I have to say, the scoring seemed pretty odd. If this was UFC, Dana White would have given the bonus to Michael Irvin; I thought his was far more entertaining and charismatic, but apparently I wasn’t watching his feet, or something?

Mad props, though, to Chuck for at least GIVING IT A TRY which is more than I can say for all of us arm-chair, beer-drinking internet warriors.
I voted for Chuck 8 times.
If you haven’t voted for Chuck yet, WHAT’S YOUT EXCUSE?!
Keep firing Assholes!
The Leafs are back!
I'm voting now. :)

Be Man, Vote Chuck
Alright guys he is up there in the eye of people who hardly know MMA and we gotta support him as our champion outside the octagon. It’s been said before but we all gotta vote for our Chuck. Even I voted for him and I live in Europe. No excuses!
Man Chuck.
He was trying REALLY hard. You could see it in his face that he was concentrating as hard as he could, trying to remember the steps.
I hope he’s safe, because really, I’d rather boot Ashley Hamilton. Ideally, I’d like to see him last until halfway through the competition – I want to see him do something fast, since he didn’t fall on his face during the Cha Cha (much better than his Fox Trot), perhaps a paso doble, since he can be all masculine in that dance.
We’ll find out Wednesday. The ladies dance tonight, and watch out for Mya.
