UFC 103 post-fight press conference.

"To be honest with you, the way the last two fights happened with Marquardt and Henderson against Anderson Silva, I think it would be better to see them fight each other, and the winner of that become the next contender," White said. "I think Vitor is ready to fight Anderson Silva (now)."

It’s a replay.

Looks like Vitor is next for Anderson.

■Dana White stated that he and Rampage have talked and have "sort of made up." He also said the movie was supposed to be done in December, but now due to some scheduling changes with filming, he won’t even be able to fight until after February.

■Dana said they [Hollywood manager] have Rampage convinced he’s going to make this movie for nothing and then make $20 million for the sequel. He went on to say, "I’ll pay him nothing to fight Rashad now, and then $20 million for the rematch." He added, "Just kidding."

■TUF 10 did 5.1 million viewers.

■Dana said he bought the Floyd Mayweather fight in the back and it sucked. "It went to a 12-round boring decision."

I think it makes more sense for the UFC to have Belfort fight Silva now

Because there is really nothing to indicate that Belfort wouldn’t crap the bed in another fight or two—especially against Henderson, Marquardt, or anybody else who would likely take him to the ground.

You give him the shot now, hierarchy be damned, and you go ahead and bypass the entire old/new Belfort thing.

It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.

Belfort deserves the shot

He just took out #3 MW Franklin in a more definitive fashion than anyone since Anderson Silva. He did so more convincingly than #2 Henderson who barely eked out a decision over Franklin. That puts Belfort in the #2 spot at MW and makes him the legitimate #1 contender for Silva’s belt.

Meantime, it makes perfect sense to match Henderson with Marquardt. Rematches should be kept to a bare minimum, especially when the first fights were so effectively finished. Let’s reduce the possibility of a rematch from 2 to 1 by having one of Henderson and Marquadt eliminate the other from contention.

Belfort is also on a 5 fight win streak

I think that there is a case for Belfort vs Anderson Silva simply because it is a fresh matchup, and Belfort is fresh off his destruction of Franklin. I feel, and I’m sure many others do to, that Belfort is probably the biggest threat to Anderson in Middleweight right now, and that just adds intrigue to a Belfort vs Anderson fight.

Take THAT Hendo

Belfort’s win really stacks the deck in the UFC’s favor in dealing with Henderson and his contract negotiations. I REALLY think he doesn’t want to fight Nate Marquardt, for whatever reason. I won’t say he’s ducking Nate, because Hendo doesn’t duck, but I think Hendo knows Nate can beat him and he wants that title shot or nothing. Before last night, it wasn’t clear that White could make a case for any other fighter. Now he can, with Belfort plowing through Rich Franklin in a way Henderson could not. Whats more impressive, a second round KO of Michael Bisping or a 3 minute KO of Rich Franklin?

On Inside MMA he said that he knows he will have to fight both Anderson and Nate at some stage, so it doesn’t really bother him what order it is in.
