DEEP Boss Says DREAM.11 and 12 Feature "DREAM x DEEP" Fights

UPDATED on 9/5/09 2:58PM
The post has been removed from DEEP's blog...

DEEP president Shigeru Saeki has a post up on DEEP's official blog hinting - well, flat out saying - that DREAM.11 and 12 will feature "DREAM x DEEP" bouts which fans won't want to miss.

Here's a partial translation from Nightmare of Battle:

October 6th DREAM.11

October 25th DREAM.12

DEEP fans have to go and see these two DREAM events!!!!!!!!

If you don’t go and see them you will absolutely regret it.

Because, there will be cards that are too amazing at them!!

It’s DEEP vs. DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DEEP fans will definitely have this expression. [see pic at right] Definitely. No mistake about it.

None of the bouts announced thus far for either event fit the description (unless you count Kazuyuki Miyata vs. DJ.taiki in the FWGP reserve match).

One fighter we can defintiely expect to see at DREAM.12 is the Osaka-based Yoshiro Maeda, who made an appeal for participation to DREAM officials sitting ringside following his DQ win last weekend. DEEP lightweight champ Katsunori Kikuno is also all but confirmed for the October 25th show, though no opponent has been named. And what about the still-vacant DREAM middleweight title? Riki Fukuda, anyone?

I’m not that impressed with DEEP’s current talent, but then again… I don’t know exactly who’s exclusive to DEEP as many guys crossover to DREAM and fight on their cards.

One guy to look out for who’s been fighting for DEEP exclusively this year is “Parky,” aka Won Sik Park. Very promising lightweight.

Also, at LHW there’s “Ryo” Choi, who beat Bernard Ackah a few months back and won again last week.

And Takafumi Otsuka just took the title off Mishima of course; I could see him back in DREAM before too long if he defends.

From his comments before the Nakao fight, I got the sense that Chonan was focused on reclaiming his DEEP title before signing with DREAM or Sengoku. But you could very well be right – DREAM needs all the star power it can get.

They are definitely trying to do it big for DREAM.11 and DREAM.12. I wonder if they are trying to set something up for NYE. =)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Let it be Fedor/ Barnett or Fedor/ Overeem. Hell, copromote it w/ strikeforce, do it at Saitama, and broadcast it on Showtime/ CBS. I just wanna see Fedor FIGHT

Supporting all Las Vegas MMA. Xtreme Couture FTMFW.

'09 is the year of the FW's.

i have the feeling it's gonna be Fedor/Barnett on Japan's NYE show..

that way Josh can inject himself all he wants..

and If overeem vs Fedor will happen, please just make it happen in the US.. That way, no one can accuse Overeem of doing roids.. (assuming he passes the test).. That being said, if that happens and they fight, i’ll be rooting for overeem.

I thought Fedor was fighting Rogers in November… won’t that mess with shit?

This shirt is "dry clean only", which means it's dirty.

Barnett fights for WVR, no way.

If anything, it’ll be Fedor/Monson.

This was what I was thinking. How is Barnett going to fight Fedor on NYE for Dream? He’s with WVR, and apparently fighting Bigfoot for the HW title in November.
