Wow…IF this is true, nighty night Amir? Interesting match up.

Ehh
I don’t really think so.
Hendricks hits hard, and the stoppage was definitely premature. I honestly thought that Amir’s MT looked really sharp and fast before the finish, but his chin is definitely a bit of a question now. He could also stand to pack on some muscle, for sure.
If his chin isn’t there, though… then I could definitely see the NYBA laying him out

Well, Baroni’s conditioning was much improved in his last fight with Riggs, so overall… Amir will need to make this a ground war. If he can do that, he wins, but if he stands with Baroni… he might get run over.

I disagree.
Amir has a lot more versatile standup game than Baroni. I think his combination of length and kicking prowess could frustrate the shit out of Baroni on the feet. I won’t be the least bit surprised if Phil winds up shooting on him and getting caught in a sub Dollaway-style.

downside is this wont give baroni a chance for a shit talking war in his 1st fight back

NYBA could talk shit if his opponent was a brown paper bag.

There’s no guarantee he’d win that fight either.

I didn’t see this one coming. I was hoping for a Baroni/Sera battlle of NYC. Still, kind of an intriging matchup. Amir needs to get the fight to the ground, obviously.

I think you mean “Amir needs to get the fight past the third minute”

I 100% completely agree. I posted that on my website as well. I personally think if Amir can pick apart Phil from the outside with kicks and let Phil continue to charge in swining for the fences, he will tire out in 3 minutes, and then Amir can really pull him into his game. Who does Phil Baroni really train with? Is he still with Coleman? If so, it just shows you Phil never really challenged himself to be a better fighter.

For some reason I'm still oddly intrigued by Phil Baroni.
I know that he’s gonna gas in the first 2 minutes and that he’ll never return to Dave Menne killing form, but I still get excited about it anyway.

i could see amir finishing this one on his feet
phil just looks old and lethargic everytime he fights now.

The beh’d ess trains with xtreme couture under Shawn Tomkins, and he’s been getting better. If he comes in with the same cardio as the fight with riggs he very well may win the fight if it goes 3 rounds. He may very well ko amir as well.

From a recent NerdSociety.com interview with the New York Bad Ass:
NS: Are you still training with Hammer House? If so, are you going to corner Mark Coleman again in UFC 100?
PB: If he asks me to corner him, I will. He always corners me when I ask him to. We never train together, none of us Hammer House guys. The Hammer House is Coleman’s porch. It has a punching bag on it. I’ve never been to Coleman’s house. I think Randleman stole his punching bag by the way. So there isn’t much of a reason for me to go.

Its kinda a weird matchup because Baroni could win this fight, then, what do you do with Amir?
by MMASuPreMaCy on Sep 2, 2009 1:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
If he lost, I’m thinking they’d give him one more fight before cutting him. A can I’d imagine.

How much bigger a can is there if not Baroni?
by KrmtDfrog on Sep 2, 2009 4:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That’s what i’m thinking, if Amir can’t beat Baroni maybe he should start putting his degree to work, I mean you can only fight CB Dolloway so many times.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.
