UFC 103 Results: Tyson Griffin KOs Hermes Franca in Two

As Joe Rogan said, Griffin stopped a guy who is not known for being stopped.

In the first round, it was all Griffin. While not a devastating power puncher, Griffin was able to essentially land at will against a slightly pudgy and very flat Franca. Franca absorbed several hard kicks, a vicious uppercut and a variety of other beautifully-timed strikes from the Xtreme Couture product. Franca tried to catch a few of the middle or leg kicks thrown, but was not able to make it work. Franca was also briefly knocked down by Griffin, but bounced back without much more than losing points on the judges score cards.

The second round started with a flurry with both men landing heavy hooks and haymakers. Franca managed to catch a kick early and winged punches while Griffin was trapped, but couldn't land anything significant. Then a smashing right cross from Griffin changed the equation. Franca buckled and Griffin pounced, avoiding what was left of Franca's guard while landing brutal ground and pound. The referee was forced to stop the fight at 3:30 of round two.
