Tim Sylvia...
Tonight was one of the most nerve racking nights for me as a MMA fan. At Adrenaline IV Tim Sylvia took on Jason Riley in what was basically an old fashion WWF career match. It was pretty simple really, If Tim lost he was done, he was in a way fighting one of the biggest matches of his career. Most of you know by now I am friends with Tim, and am constantly defending his character. So to watch a person who I am not only a fan of, but a good friend to, go through this career downfall...it's been pretty rough. I just wanted to express how personally excited I was to see him get back in the win column. Now I know there will be those of you who will say that it isn't a big deal because Riley was a nobody, but to Tim and his fans it is a big deal. Anytime we as humans are at the bottom of the moutain all we can do is go up. Tim took his first step back up tonight with a KO victory! I would love to see him get a few wins in a row and get into the mix in Stikeforce's HW division. The picture I have included is of Tim and I, feel free to make fun. =-)

People...
can say what they want about Tim, but he seems like a good guy who has had his share of life BS moments. I’ve always been a fan, despite the reasons to dislike him. Tonight I was happy to see him get the win, and have hopes that he continues his career for years to come.
I wish I had the peasure of knowing the guy, because he truly seems like a likeable person. He dosen’t deserve half of the shit he gets, but you know how it goes in this sport, you’re only as good as your last fight.
Pass this on to Tim for me ANance. =) lol

I’ve always said he seems like a decent guy, and you confirm it. So hell, power to the guy. I wish him luck and happiness wherever he seeks it, whether in the cage or out.

weoweoweo is the best… and I <3 Vera cause he is pogi.

Fedor would love that party.
As long as it wan’t awkward with Tim.
Anance Kudos to you for always sticking up for your friend. Good luck to Tim, I wish him well. His fight with Randy was my favorite fight ever…I hope he becomes the force he used to be.
lol
Oh, he’s gonna love you for unleashing that on the internet.

Haha
Nah man those parties are all about fun. I think u can tell who in the pic takes it to the next level of stupidity! (me and my buddy on the left) Of course we have the unfair advantage of alcohol that Tim doesn’t. Hahaha

You know it;s funny, I’m sure you’re around 6 feet or so…. but you’re standing next to Tim and frankly, that makes you look like a dwarf.
I keed, I keed!

good NIGHT!
TIm’s nicer than I thought; bending down so you look taller!

ahh the trademark ‘make-a-fist-when-taking-a-picture-with-a-fighter’ pose. :)
haha, but seriously though, I hope Tim gets to revive his career.
No
It makes no difference. There is an official world-wide rule that if you take a picture with a fighter, you have to make a fist like that. I used to make fun of it until I took a pic with El Guapo. I had done it without even noticing.
BOOSH
So...
Japan in October? Wins a couple of fights, in Strikeforce, right?
I know he wan’ts the UFC, but that’s not going to happen unless he beats a top guy.
Does that sound about right? Also, your loyalty and support is pretty awesome. I guess that’s what friends are for. =)
Supposed to be fighting at the Denver Coliseum next month for a promotion called Rocky Mountain Nationals. Also Jeremy Horn on the card. One of their guys came in looking for fighters to fill out the card.

Tim broke his right hand in the fight. Doubt he’ll be fighting.

I like Tim Sylvia too
I mean , I mostly feel bad for him for the tough fights he had . I always like to see a fighter or any human rise to the occasion and make a comeback .
Good luck Tim Sylvia , and please don’t ever take a rematch with Fedor :)
I never understood why all the hate for Tim, he seemed like he was really getting the fans on his side untill the lost to Nog.
for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.
Frankly the loss to Nog made me a bigger fan. One thing’s for sure, even when he loses, TIm handles himself like a class act.

if you want to understand the hate..
watch sylvia/arlovski 3, sylvia/monson, and sylvia/vera. throw in sylvia/silva and keep your eye out for the liquid shit stain all up and down his crack. i don’t think anyone really hates him as a person but he fought not to lose and folks generally don’t like that. (see: anderson silva)

I'll just say....
Riley has never beaten a guy with a better than .500 record, and considering he basically fights in barns, that’s saying something.
Good luck, Maine-iac.

I've got this Christian girlfriend now and she's trying to get me to be a better man and reconnect with my son and I'm trying to get her to renounce God and [bleep] me and I just want to prove to her that I'm worth it.
So basically...
..if Sylvia had beaten a crippled redheaded kid who was tied to a post, that’d be a step up?
Good to know. Bring on Tank Abbott.

I’m just helping you to better your reading skills. You seem so eager to bash him that you forgot to read the actual article.
I read the article.
But one person cheering “the only way is up, baby” does not mean that this win is worth a pint of warm piss.

You have got to be one relieved mofo right now lol. Not a fan of Timmay, but I am happy the guy isn’t done with. I understand losing to Fedor, everyone does. But in all honesty and bs aside… The Ray Mercer thing could of happened to ANYONE. I mainly blame Monte Cox for setting up that circus attraction of a fight and causing Sylvia to be embarrassed like that and almost ending his career.
Anyway, CONGRATS TIMMAY, and ANance go check your underwear… The BG’s must of been one helluva war :)
The Ray Mercer thing could only have happened...
..to someone dumb enough to sign on to that fight.
Blame Monte Cox if you like, but Timmeh signed the paperwork and took the check.
http://www.vancouversun.com/mma
I totally am blaming Monte Cox
I also did say MAINLY and never FULLY. Of course it’s Sylvia’s fault as well, he signed the damn contract. It is of course Monte Cox’s job to get his fighter’s the best fights out there for them and there was nothing great about getting Tim that fight.

I dunno,
Tim seems like a decent dude, but over these few years it just seems like he doesnt fight because he loves it, its because he wants to make whatever he can and leave. And i dont think thats what MMA should be about, but sadly it is sometimes. But i cant judge, i dont even know the guy.

To be honest
anyone can talk all the shit they want about Big Tim, but the fact is, as it stands right now, he’s right there with Randy as the most dominant HW of UFC history. The only reason I put Randy slightly ahead of him is that he beat Sylvia, but still- Tim was, and probably still could be, a force in the HW division.

Looks like he got clipped just like Franklin, then while backing up he just lost his balance and Tim took advantage of it.

To be fair, Riley got caught a few times before that. He was already a bit wobbly before getting clipped here.
I was disappointed that Riley seemed to mount less offense than the official during the fight. Sylvia was very aggressive and looking to finish, which was nice to see out of him. He looked pretty sloppy and out of shape to me, though. I was wondering if he’d come in looking like he’d been training seriously, etc., and I think he weighed in at 286 or something. I know he’s a tall dude, but that seemed pretty heavy. Then again, the production value of this show in person was so shitty that you could barely understand a word said by the announcer all night, so maybe I completely misheard the weight.
by Kierkegaard on Sep 21, 2009 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions
No, you're right
It was either 286 or 287. A bit heavy but probably not much more than he walked into the cage in the UFC at, only difference is he didn’t need to cut to 265 for this fight.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.
