FARMINGTON, N.M. – A New Mexico man fell to his death from a third-story hotel window while re-enacting a move from the "Ultimate Fighting Championship."

Police say 25-year-old Darenell Jones was pushed into the window Wednesday night while celebrating the marriage of a family member at a Farmington hotel. Police said the people in the room were drinking.

They say the window broke and he fell 20 feet to the sidewalk below.  Jones was pronounced dead at the hospital. The case was forwarded to the district attorney's office for review.

We generally think of it as a good thing strategically for the UFC to make their brand name synonymous with Mixed Martial Arts.  If the only name that people know is the UFC, that's great for them, right?

Here's an example where that's not always the case.  To say that this man was practicing a "UFC move" is as ridiculous as saying that your friend was practicing "NFL moves" or "NBA moves" when they fell and hurt their leg.  Yet obviously this author doesn't know any better, and here we go.  Bad publicity for the UFC, bad publicity for the sport, and it's all unwarranted.
