"They don’t do any real fighting, man," he complained of MMA, bending down to demonstrate what goes on inside the Octagon. "When a man goes down instead of going to a neutral corner they jump on him and keep beating him.

Note, the article begins like this,

His speech is slurred. He doesn’t seem to even understand half the questions asked

I’m sure Muhammad Ali would understand, after all he faced Antonio Inoki in an exhibition match.

I’ve never heard that Ali came away from that bout with any deeper appreciation of grappling (or leg-kicks, for that matter).

It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.

its funny… beating a dude when he goes down is actual fighting… and kicking a dude in the balls is real fighting also.

I stopped taking offense to people who don’t know what they’re talking about a long time ago. These boxing guys need to stop answering MMA questions because their answers just make them look stupid. We already know Joe Frazier is fucked in the head from all of the punishment he’s taken; why would he want to corroborate his own retardation by talking about something he clearly doesn’t understand. When guys are in the spotlight as long as Frazier, you’d think they would learn some tact.

You don’t see MMA fighters making ignorant comments about boxing or BJJ or Muay Thai. And you don’t see BJJ or Muay Thai fighters bad-mouthing MMA. I wonder why so many guys in the boxing world find it necessary to open their mouth about something they do not even comprehend correctly. “Oh, it’s not fighting because they are standing in front of each other throwing punches.”
