Sam Stout vs. Phillipe Nover Bout Cancelled
This Fan Post was promoted to the front page by Nick Thomas.

danawhiteufc: Sam Stout was very cool during the incident and is a class act!!
That's too bad. I was looking forward to this fight. I hope everything is ok with Phillipe and that we get an update on the underlying cause of seizure. I also hope they can find Stout another fight soon.
UPDATE [from Luke Thomas]: Talk about a string of bad luck for Nover. Here's to hoping he gets the chance to build a career in the UFC.

Wasn’t Nover the one who passed out in the first episode of that season? Wonder if, in retrospect, there was more to that than it seemed at the time?

yup, that's right
Hope he gets a full neurological workup just to be safe.

Many times the cause is never found but the seizures are controlled by medication. Even if they can be controlled by medicine, how good of an idea can it be to take damage to an already damaged brain?
I know I’m not breaking any new ground here, but seizures are FUCKING SCARY!!
From the UG:
seizures are a strange thing. medically we still barely understand them.
I have been providing field medicine since 1995. i have seen my share of really fucked up shit. it very rarely bothers me, which is why i am good at my job. seizures are literally the ONLY thing that always, every damn time, just creeps me out.
its a total betrayal of the body by the mind. it always makes me feel helpless. while i can usually, but not always, stop the seizure, i have little ability to attack the cause. i can “fix” the situation, but I can’t fix the problem.
and the meds that are given for these conditions are brutal…. i can totally understand why people refuse to take them.
hope he can find a way to deal/live with this.
i have compassion for most of the folks i take care of, even when its hard to care. but I usually forget their name (if I knew it at all) by the time i walk through the door at the ED and get back into my truck. for some reason a SZ patient always sticks with me alot longer than i would like.
TTT for nover, hope he finds a path that will work for him

Yes He Was...
I don’t think he should be fighting until they get all that analyzed.

That was my first thought as well. I hope he’s alright and it’s nothing life changing for him.

Given his history on TUF, it seems like Nover’s body is highly sensitive to dehydration. If this most recent incident is also related to dehydration, maybe it’s time for him to take a cue from Houston Alexander and fight at his natural weight.
I have no problem with weight-cutting as long a guy can do it safely. But it seems like Phillipe is endangering his health any time he dehydrates himself.
What happened with Houston?
"That feeling after you win and they raise your hand... it's like you have this energy that releases from your body, and it's like you mingle with the cosmos, and you feel omnipotent"
Houston is fighting in lesser leagues hoping to get back in the UFC.

Nothing happened to him
He just doesn’t cut weight because it would medically unwise for a guy with one kidney to put it under that kind of stress.
Hey, does anybody knows how it works on MMA playground when one of the fighters of your parlay don’t fight?
You don't look like a Tanaka.
they remove that fighter from your parlay and you then have a two fight parlay. It not the same payout as it would have been.
Damn. I had him in a parlay and in a straight bet.

Damn
I hope my Filipino brotha is alright. Seizures are no fun for anyone. I’ve seen two in my life and I could definitely go without seeing any for the rest of my life, especially someone close to me going through one. You just gotta let them ride it out and wait until they come to. It sucks
Hope is he ok
As a fellow Filipino, I root for Nover everytime he fights, hopefully this isn’t serious.

They don’t have to but Dana is usually pretty cool when stuff out of a fighter’s control like this happens, he’ll probably get paid.
