John Dodson vs. Pat Runez at UWC 7: Redemption in Depth
The video tells the true story here. I also know my enthusiasm for this fight may be cast as promotional shilling, so I'll save the exposition on the flyweight division for another time.
But I will admit that the fleshing out of the flyweight division is exciting. That it's happening in North America and more specifically the east coast is downright thrilling. When we add gravity to the bout by placing a championship on the line between two top 15, accomplished competitors (both American, which itself if notable) with some of the highest MMA camp pedigree available, the appeal becomes difficult to ignore.
Disclosure: I am the color commentator for the UWC.

I want to go to this, but I really don’t have anyone to go with. The people I normally go to events with (Brett Jones) can’t go. Who wants to be my road dog for this show? Might take my girl because she loves violence. Anyone else in the area going?
wow. lets hype this fight up
Having not seen either fighter, just going by their 5-3 and 2-0 MMA records, I’d probably wouldn’t waste the effort.
If this is an attempt to display outrageous levels of ignorance, I congratulate you.

do you know how hard it is for flyweights to get fights?
this is a brand new division. and Dodson’s losses are all against guys one to three weightclasses bigger than him. One of them was also a split decision loss to Mike Easton.
