According to Scott Dryden, Editor-in-Chief of ProFighting-fans.com, TUF 9 veteran Jason Dent (19-9 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will face promising lightweight submission ace and TUF 6 veteran George Sotiropoulos (10-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) at UFC 106 on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After beginning his UFC career with two consecutive losses--to Roger Huerta and Gleison Tibau respectively--in a 2006-07 run, Dent worked his way to the semifinals of the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter before losing to Ross Pearson by Decision. Dent has since rebounded with a first round Submission of the Night performance against fellow Team U.S. cast member Cameron Dollar in June at the live TUF 9 finale.
His opponent will be hard-nosed Australian veteran George Sotiropoulos, a gifted grappler and one of the favorites to win the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter before he was poked in the eye and TKO'd by Tommy Speer in the semifinals. Sotiropoulos has fought in four-month intervals since his efforts on the show, finishing Billy Miles, Roman Mitichyan, and George Roop respectively, all before the end of the second round.
The fight should prove to be an interesting stylistic match up, as Sotiropolous--known as a finisher--will be going up against a man who, while underwhelming in terms of his own finishing power, has only been stopped in 2 of his 28 professional appearances since debuting in 2003.
