Katsunori Kikuno (12-1-1) vs. Eddie Alvarez (18-2) possible for DREAM.12 on October 25 in Osaka, Japan, MMA Weekly reports.
Bellator Fighting Championships - whom Alvarez is still under contract with as current lightweight champion - would have to approve the bout, and their matchmaker says he's only "heard a rumor" of the match as of Thursday afternoon. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney has stated that the promotion would like its champions to fight outside their respective title weights in non-Bellator bouts.

Kikuno is 165lbs right? So i’m assuming both camps will want it to be at 165 too, since bellator wants Alvarez to fight at a higher weight.
Kikuno is DEEP’s 155-pound champ, so Bellator may not approve it. It’s a nice fight but I’m not getting my hopes up just yet…

oh okay,
some how i thought Kikuno was a 165er.. In this case, I agree, i don’t think bellator would approve.

I'm rooting for the Smiling Zombie if this happens.

i think it could be a come out show for alvarez because kikuno has been on fire lately and a win over him would be very impressive.. i think eddie has what it takes u to handle kikuno. honestly i want to believe kikuno would KO eddie if he takes this fight lightly but imo after the dream and bellator successes of eddies career and amazing battles with hansen and kawajiri i dont think he is going to lose this. any way i know there is all this talk about bellator wanting their champs to fight at higher weight classes but i think this fight will happen either way now that the rumor has been announced. like i said i hope this fight happens
DAMN YOU!
I like both guys, but Kikuno is becoming my new favorite guy to root for.
