"I did catch mumps, but the reason I decided not to compete was an injured knee. These last two months something has been against me getting in shape (laughs). Two months from the event (ADCC) I caught mumps. When I was just getting well it spread to my testicles, taking another week to get better. When I went back to training, I twisted my knee... There’ve been some complications, I didn’t rest enough, so the mumps dropped, to my nuts… it hurt like hell! Now I’m better, I’m 100% over it and with no collateral damage. I can still have lots of kids."
-- Roger Gracie speaking to Gracie Mag on why he withdrew from ADCC.
Fabricio Werdum told Tatame today that he'd like to replace Gracie in his supermatch against Robert Drysdale.

At least we can take solace knowing more gracies will follow
Also, the fact that he’s dominated drysdale several times already makes a change in superfight more agreeable
I would’ve liked to see them go at it sans gi, but I’m sure it’ll happen at some point down the line.

From the UG:
Why not just ditch the superfight entirely and let them compete in their divisions? The Superfight is completely unneccessary and has been since Arona bowed out against Lister.
If anything they should have Arona fight Drysdale since he’s technically the defending champ and then have Roger go back into the main draw next time.
I really just want to see Arona vs. Roger.
What is the source that says it’s Werdum because it’s not on Gracie Mag or ADCC’s site?
My bad – Tatame says Werdum wants to step in for Roger.
