FMC 1: Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Blagoi Ivanov called off:
"In spite of unofficial information that Blagoi has injured both hands Alex still hasn’t got any confirmation from the Korean event organization. They haven’t given any information about an opponent substitution; also there is no exact date of the event."
... "Aleksander Emelianenko has decided to make an official statement that he will not take part in the championship in Korea. Insufficient level of tournament organization and unwillingness constructive negotiation about opponent substitution doesn’t make it possible to take part in this event."
"Now Alex is able to accept any new offers and negotiations with organizations."

sucks that the fight is called off,
but that tidbid in bold is pretty interesting…
Imagine the shit storm that would happen if Alecks would sign with the UFC.. haha.
gonna be hard to get licensed in the states
if he can’t get licensed in California.

Yea...
I wish I could see him in the UFC as he’s not with M-1 management. Too bad though.

If he does have Hepatitis A, which has never been confirmed, it was probably caused by the poor sanitary conditions in the Russian prison system. If it was Hepatitis C, then sharing needles for the tattooing would be a likely suspect.
That would fit with medical mishap. Either unsanitary hospital conditions, or tainted needle or blood transfer.
Well, he says it was some medical mishap, not Hepatitis A, but yeah.

It’s a rumor, but it is a pretty strong source (his opponent at the Affliction show) and some pretty strong supporting evidence (Bill Douglas’ public statements).
Yeah, I think it was Douglas who said something along the lines of, “He’s not licensed in California and I know the other states won’t license him either.” Not verbatim.
Something is up with this and it seems to be a big deal.
"The one thing that I can absolutely say is that he (Emelianenko) was not and will not be cleared to fight in California. He is officially denied a license and that will stand for all of the United States of America".http://www.fightlinker.com/aleks-emelianenko-was-not-and-will-not-be-cleared.mma
That really sounds like a statement that he will never be licensed in the US.
With his unresolved medical situation blocking possibly lucrative fights in Japan and the United States, Fedor Emelianenko’s younger but bigger brother has to look to local organizations to keep his career alive.

Sherdog reported (as an aside in an article) that Alek can’t fight in Japan either which is pretty odd.
I don’t see anything in there about ‘ever’.
I see a statement that says he can’t compete if things remain the same. My read was that Douglas was saying ‘until he gets his medicals in order, he cannot compete in the United States’.
“was not and will not be cleared to fight in California” CSAC will not give him a license, that just isn’t a statement that they didn’t give him one then it’s a statement that they will not give him one. If this was just a case of him needing to get them medicals then they wouldn’t of made such a strong statement (also see Paul Buentello’s statement at the bottom of the comments, he definitely has been informed that it is very serious).
If he just had acute HVB (and a doctor could tell the difference, acute HVB only last a couple of months) then they wouldn’t of denied him a license they would of just told him he couldn’t fight till it was cleared up, if he’s got chronic HVB they probably aren’t going to take any chances with it, particularly with him being such a high profile fighter. You don’t get over chronic HVB.
Leland, Nate, get on the horn and tell Dana to fly Aleks out to Vegas and have his ass tested. If it’s all good, sign him, damnit!

Yup, they let me down. I was hoping for a big Korean MMA promotion, but they haven’t been doing the greatest.

Honestly
I see the UFC making Aleks take a physical. If he can pass blood tests, he’ll be UFC bound and they will promote him like none other. If he can’t, he’ll be back in DREAM, where he can fight.
exactly
i’m sure he knows that he’d be exposed if he truely did have hep when taking the physical…. so i find it hard to believe he does have it, considering he’s made public statements about wanting to fight in the UFC even after he was denied in CA.

The clouds!!
Good eye man! Maybe he’s trying to move past that phase of his life? Not that he was still a gangsta, but the mindset behind it?
umm...
the guy spent time in jail for armed robbery. He is a Ruski gangsta.
I have yet to see anything that backs up the assertions that Aleks did time in jail. IIRC, there is a Fedor interview where he vaguely mentions something about Aleks having trouble with the law as a kid, but nothing beyond that. I suspect it is more likely that he did some time in juvie as a minor rather than the gulag as an adult. Convicted armed robbers can’t travel all over the globe like he has.
I have an equally crazy Steven Seagul story that I’ve mentioned before when my Dad was up in Alaska when he was in the military years ago… except he wanted to kill a bear bare-handed. Luckily, he never found one.

Delusional bullshit
creeps you out?
Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics, even when you win you are still retarded.
That is BS and...
when Fedor was asked about it he practially implied it was so. Gave some sort of embarassed answer that he didn’t know.
When was this pic taken?
Hopefully not recently cuz he looks in horrible shape.

When has he ever been in good shape?
That’s just not the Emelianenko way of doing things. I mean they train on playgrounds for christ sake.

I just have seen a few pics of him
& never remembered him being that out of shape looking.

The only time he was out of shape was when he first started MMA. And at that point, it was less about being “out of shape” and more that he was just a huge mother-fucker. As his career has gone on, he’s further understood the importance of both speed and conditioning. Pretty much from his Kharitonov fight onwards he was in good shape. He still gets tired at the end of 15 minutes but so do most guys.

If he can get licensed in California, I’d love to see him in the UFC. The inner fan is me thinks he’d murder at least 1/3rd of the Heavyweight Division, but there are still some questions that need to be answered. Can he really handle high level competition, since his only loses are against High Level Fighters.

I think the odds are pretty strong that Aleks did have Hep B, but there is also a good chance he can still get a license. The rumor never made it clear whether the Hep was acute or chronic. If he had acute Hep, it clears spontaneously something like 99% of the time, and even if he had chronic Hep, there is precedent for SAC’s licensing fighters who are on the proper medication.
Paul Buentello on Aleksander Emelianenko:
You’re referring to Aleksander Emelianenko pulling out of the fight that you guys were scheduled to have last summer, when the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction him at the last minute. Have you ever gotten a straight answer on what happened there?
Yeah, they told me. Everybody knows, but I don’t want to say it on the record. But everybody knows the reason why. The truth is out there. I don’t want to get the Commission mad at me for saying what they told me, but everybody knows.
.
I understand why you don’t want to say, but Aleksander is fighting in other countries. Don’t you think his opponents in other countries have a right to know why he isn’t allowed to fight in California anymore?
Oh, totally. His opponents need to know. Everybody thinks boxing commissions are a bad thing for the sport, but they’re a good thing for the sport. They’re there to protect the fighters. The commissions only go to the borders of the United States. It would be nice if it was international.

Aleks is a BEAST
For a man his size, his hand speed is unmatched! I’d love to see him tangle with Yvel, or Kongo. He brings it every fight and I hope he can get cleared to fight state-side as his style will make him a fan favorite no doubt.

I forgot about AA
That would be epic. I’ve also always wanted to see him scrap w/ big Tim too. Get him tested Monte Cox. If your boy can beat him, redemption may follow, but I’d take Aleks for sure.

A source close to the situation spoke to MMANews.com’s Michael Moody on a condition of anonymity and explained that the blood tests came back right before Aleks and Buentello were scheduled to weigh in and that is why there was so much confusion around the stage and why the fighters did not weigh in. Gary Goodridge ended up stepping up on extremely short notice and filling in for the Russian heavyweight.
.
The tests were positive for Hepatitis B which resulted in the CSAC cancelling the fight.

Im surprised no one here knows the true reason why Aleks was denied licence in Cali.
Hep was not the reason. Its because a convicted felon is not allowed to get a work visa in the US (especialy one with mafia tats covering his body). The mafia affilition is also why Japan tried to ban him (after the PRIDE mafia scandal).
Hey anyone notice something different about Aleks in this picture? a sign of him trying to bury his past.. anyone?
