Denis Kang to face Michael Bisping at UFC 105
Denis Kang speaks to Fighters Only Magazine about his next opponent, Michael Bisping. His comments after the jump.

On Bisping's recent brutal KO loss to Dan Henderson and how it relates to the upcoming fight:
"I don’t care about that. I think I am gonna beat his ass anyway, whether he won his last fight or lost it... Of course I always want to finish the fight but you know, he’s only got two losses and he went the distance with Rashad Evans. But I am going to go for the KO like Hendo!"
On Bisping's personality:
"I don’t know him personally. He is cocky on TV but that could just be his television persona. I don’t make the fight personal at all... To me he is not ‘cocky Michael Bisping’, he is just a sack of flesh and bones across the Octagon that I am waiting to pound on."
On Bisping's talent as a fighter:
He is a good fighter, he has got cardio and he knows how to win a fight. He knows how to ride the momentum, you know what I mean? I wouldn’t say he is a standout in any area but he is decent in all areas and he has a good head for the game, which can take you a long way.
Kang, whose record over the last 3 years is an inconsistent 5-4 (1-1 in the UFC) is coming off a submission loss to Alan Belcher followed by a decision win over Xavier Foupa-Pokam. Is his tough talk justified?

man they're really throwing Bisping to the wolves here
no rest for the wicked.
Of course Kang stands a good chance of losing to Bisping as well, he’s got a knack for finding a way to lose and for all of his offensive ability he’s a terrible defensive fighter.

I hate to be a biased asshole… but I hate Bisping.
I hope Kang crushed him.

While “hate” is a strong word, I can’t stand him, either. He reminds me of every self-entitled jock from high school.

I believe the phrase is “no rest for the weary.”

I don’t know about Bisping being thrown to the wolves (Bisping is 14th in the BE consensus rankings, Kang isn’t in the top 25). It’s a winnable fight for him and if he wants to be a top contender this is the kind of fight he has to win. I’m ok with Bisping not getting a gimme fight.
14 is certainly high for Bisping… his 3 wins at MW were against 2 guys that are no longer with the UFC and 1 guy that probably is out after a shameful showing at UFC102.
I agree though this isn’t throwing him to the wolves, with as lackluster as Kang has been thusfar in the UFC. I wish they would though, I was hoping for Akiyama or Belcher to handle that job. Wanderlei would have been a lot of fun too.
I know I will get crap for this
But Denis Kang is possible the most talented middleweight next to anderson silva. It drives me NUTS that he seesm to melt down in fights. I know his defense is lacking, but his offensive arsenal is second to none. I hope he gets his mental act together for the Bisping fight and fights the way we know he can.

I always say this and SO many other fighters (and critics) say this about Bisping, but he really is NOT a standout in any one area. However, he is GOOD at everything but not GREAT at any one thing, and I feel that is the reason why Bisping will NOT be a top fighter. Yes, he will beat the Charles McCCarthy’s, Jason Day’s, or a Chris Leben level fighter, but I can’t imagine him beating a Marquardt, Okami, or Belfort. Contrary to getting utterly destroyed against Marquardt, I don’t even think he could take on Demian Maia.
I hope Kang crushes him, but he’s been so damned erratic lately – I won’t be surprised by anything with this fight.
Glad Bisping’s finally being made to fight “elite” fighters to back up his billing as an “elite” fighter while feasting on some pretty mediocre talents for so long. I don’t think Bisping is as great as they billed him to be and he’ll be getting eaten up by anyone that’s top end fighter in the MW division.
I am the bastard love child of Junie Browning and Diamond Dave Kaplan.
Kang has become a Jardine of sorts. I wouldnt be shocked to see him beat any MW (sans AS) but I wouldnt be surprised to see him lose to anyone either.
I think Kang is a top 5 talent and I hope he starts showing it, I was very excited when he was signed. I truly thought he would be the one to challenge Silva.
The problem with Bisping
is that he’s foremost a stand up fighter (a striker) but he doesn’t have real KO power . It’s the same problem Forrest Griffin has . Bisping’s technique is pretty good but without the ability to cause serious damage he won’t get very far . He probably needs to try and change his game if he wants to go further … but honestly I just can’t see him becoming great.
Not trying to make excuses for the guy, but he was undefeated up until his wife killed herself. I can’t imagine every having my head in the right place even in day to day activity after something like that, let alone being an professional fighter.

I agree. I actually like Bisping (I think he’s funny) but he really needs to add something to his arsenal if he ever wants to get to the top. I think his striking is pretty good if he’s trying to out point people (excluding the ridiculous “into the fist” gameplan against Hendo). But yeah, without knockout power, or another aspect of the game, he’s doomed to mid-tier status.
weoweoweo is the best… and I <3 Vera cause he is pogi.
Is it me, or is Denis Kang really just Michael Bisping with 20 more fights? There careers seem similar, both have very good talent but can’t win the big one.
I don’t see the similarity at all.
Kang started out his career looking like nothing more than a regional show journeyman, losing nearly half of his first 15 fights. Then he went on a 21 fight win streak where he looked unbeatable. Now he has fallen into another funk and has dropped nearly half of his last 10 fights. Bisping OTOH started off his career like a house of fire. He ran up the rankings from day one and still has an outstanding record record even after taking a beating at the hands of Dan Henderson.
Kang’s career has been a mixture of brilliance and mediocrity, while Bisping’s career has shown nothing but promise until getting decapitated by Injun Dan’s Walla Walla death elbow.
