UFC 101 Results: Johny Hendricks Batters Amir Sadollah to First Round KO

20090122010524_johny_hendricks1_medium

In a 170lb clash between two highly touted young prospects, Johny Hendricks pounded out Amir Sadollah in less than two minutes.

The fight was so short that they repeated the entire thing immediately after the fight.

Announcer Joe Rogan called it a bad stoppage by referee Dan Miragliotta.

The crowd booed the quick stoppage as Rogan interviewed the winner. Hendricks said "I didn't stop it."

The welterweight bout pitted The Ultimate Fighter Season 7 winner Amir Sadollah (1-0) against Team Takedown fighter and two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion Johny Hendricks (5-0).

I suggest “Dan puts head in ass for Hendricks TKO”

Worst stoppage in history. The only way Amir could have got up quicker was if he did a nip up

What did Miragliotta want him to do?

Roll over and curl up into a ball? He was trying to get up.

No bueno.

My drunk ass thinks it was questionable…but I won’t complain. Amir shouldn’t have gotten dropped if he didn’t wanna lose.

However, I won’t hate on people who think it was a quick stop.

Hendricks was whiffing him with that flurry. He might have hit hair, maybe.

Did you see Amir’s face? A tiny tiny cut near his eye, i think he might have been given a nice combover by Hendricks but he didd’t get damaged at all really, I think it might have been a slip rather than him even being dropped

I think people need to look at when the ref starts to move in to make the stoppage. It looks like Amir is taking shots to the head while on his knees. Then after the ref moves to stop it he starts to stand up. Its not a good stoppage but its definately not the worst ive ever seen.

When there is a good gif look at it again. Hendricks was whiffing.

UFC 101 Results: Johny Hendricks Combs Amir Sadollah’s Hair to Yet Another Miragliotta Fuck-Up

Fixed the title for you Nate.

I have to watch it again

But I believe Miragliotta was in the worst position to stop that fight. In a straight line with Hendricks between him and Sadollah, rather than in a triangular position. If that’s the case, there’s no way he could have actually SEEN whether or not Sadollah needed referee intervention.

by loboplata on Aug 9, 2009 12:47 PM EDT reply actions

No matter how you see it, Dan fucked up big time. If you feel Amir was getting hit by those punches, then Dan should have stopped it to warn Hendricks for hitting Amir continuously in the back of the head. If you have HD, you can clearly see the punches whiffing and Amir keeping down below them looking to stand up.

A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.

Brutal, brutal stoppage.

I became a fan of Sadollah after TUF 7 and I was eagerly awaiting the day when he’d fight. After overcoming injury and illness, the day finally came. Instead of getting to see what the possibilities were for him, we were treated to that travesty of an early stoppage.

Sadollah must be wondering what he did in a previous life to deserve this kind of bad karma.

Being a Leaf fan here requires one to be sufficiently lubricated... and truculent!
