After an epic performance in tonight’s main event against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueiro, Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture took the stage to talk about his performance. When the question of ‘what’s next for you?” came up, the news about Couture signing a contract extension came out. UFC President Dana White announced that Couture had indeed signed a twenty-eight month, six fight extension with the premiere organization.
At forty-six years old, no one knows what Randy Couture has left in the tank. However, he looked as good as ever in tonight’s fight. Although disappointed in the loss, ‘The Natural’ looked sharp in all phases of the game. He struck well with Nogueira, defended well on the ground, and even had control of the fight at several times. Couture and White were both non-commital about where Randy’s future lies. Both White and Couture stated “we’re just taking it one fight at a time.”
“This is the place to be. I want to finish my career in UFC,” stated Randy Couture, speaking about the extension.
“I don’t know what’s next for Randy. The decision is his,” White stated about deciding Couture’s future and in what weight division.
Fans and UFC officials alike are certain to be excited about the news. Fans have one of the most popular fighters ever fighting in the most popular organization until the end of his career. Meanwhile, the UFC keeps on of their top pay-per-view draws in the fold and likely in multiple weight divisions for a few more fights. MMA Spot will have more on this story as it develops.
