Strikeforce Announces Fedor vs. Rogers

Strikeforce has finally announced their new poster boy's first opponent and he is none other than "The Grim" Brett Rogers.  Undefeated as Rogers is, his recent comments reported by MMA Fanhouse are certainly surprising:

Star-divide

I'm going to knock him out. He's going to give me his chin, somehow, someway. He's going to get sloppy with that overhand right that he loves to do or he'll try to shoot in for a take-down, and I'll catch him with either a knee or an uppercut ... something. I'm going to drop him. I want the crowd to go (gasp). I want to get that reaction out of people. So I can't wait.

A victory by Rogers would certainly topple the first Serra - St. Pierre fight as the biggest upset in MMA history, but is it likely at all?  Although the powerful Rogers is 10 - 0, his only "big win" is in his last fight where he TKOed Arlovski.  That win might be the only thing he has in common with the reigning heavyweight emperor.  Just the same though, if you like to bet the long shot, there is something about the 6'5" Minnesotan that makes a win for him seem like it might be ever so slightly possible.  Anyone who watched Fedor's last fight with that same Arlovski who was dispatched by Brett can see that Andrei was finding his spots for a short time and if Brett can do the same with his size, strength and, arguably better chin to lead in with, he just might shock the world.

Fedor v. Rogers

Hey, if you throw in a couple of other stories that have already been reported, you too can have your posts rec’d!

Didn’t see it on bloody elbow but then again there are plenty of things I don’t see… like why I’d be trying to garner “recs” on something that is just a short blurb to make people aware of an event we’d all like to see. If I get “reced” on a piece that was made up of commentary, creative anecdotes and hopefully a dash of snarkiness, then I’ll be impressed with myself.

Actually, I was using your post to point out the stupidity exhibited by another poster. I don’t particularly mind that you did this.

Oh man and I had to get all up in arms and sh*t. I should have known a guy with Kierkegaard in his sig wouldn’t be such a weenie.

Well, it’s not the Kierkegaard. No worries, though.

Confirmed

Walking out of BW3 today, I heard a wrestler talking about how his trainer flew to NY and everybody thought it was for this but he wouldn’t confirm.

WAR BRETT ROGERS! Cannot wait to jump all over the early line!

I’m not a big fan of either of these guys, but I would love to see what would happen if Rogers was to win.

Strikeforce goes outta business faster than expected if this happens.
