Andre Galvao to Debut for Strikeforce This Fall
The jiujitsu ace talked to tatame about it:
"Nothing was confirmed yet, but I think I’ll fight in October or November in Strikeforce", revealed the black belt, revealing that the training for ADCC will help him to be ready for the MMA fight. "I’m more focused in the MMA, but the training is quite the same and I believe the gas will make the difference now, helping me to explode and be better"
Andre Galvao (3-1), will be yet another product of the Strikeforce-DREAM partnership that will also bring guys like Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, Gegard Mousasi, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, and others to future Strikeforce events in the US.
The seven time jiu jitsu world champion last fought at DREAM.10, losing by unanimous decision to Jason High.

Just pointing out that Galvao, Jacare, Mousasi, and Mayhem were all Strikeforce fighters before the alliance was created. The good thing is that the alliance allows them to have a set schedule of when they can both fight for each promotion. Galvao was actually signed to Strikeforce before the WW GP even started for DREAM.
Rumored fights for Strikeforce Oct/Nov show, though some of these matchups may be spread between two events.
Fedor vs Rogers
Shields vs Mayhem
Jacare vs Lawler
Lindland vs TBA
Galvao vs TBA
Good info.
=)
yeah, i read that he was undercontract with SF
and that coker and the guys just allowed him to compete on the DREAM tourney..
Since he has never fought with the promotion, It’s just weird calling him a “strikeforce” fighter just cause he was undercontract there first..
although, without the partnership, i doubt we’d see much of them in the US..

too bad
that Jake Shields already moved up, I’d much rather see Shields vs Galvao, Mayhem vs Lawler 2 and Jacare vs Lindland.

yep.. i'd like to see those matchups too..
especially shields vs galvao… but they do have to put a fight for the title, and Lawler and Lindland just got beat.. plus Mayhem vs Jacare for the SF title would piss of dream.. so i think they’re stuck with that..

Diaz/Galvao anyone?
….I still hope that if they won’t let aoki fight top guys, that they’d put Aoki vs Gurgel..

A fight that would prove, once and for all, that rumors of Jorge Gurgel’s blackbelt have been greatly exaggerated.

He's legit dude
it’s just that before he even went to the UFC, his knees got blown out, so he can’t really shoot anymore. If you watch his fights pre- UFC, he uses his ground game quite a bit, and it’s very effective for MMA.
That said, Shinya beats even a prime Gurgel, and will absolutely spin circles around him on the mat if they ever fight.

That would be funny if they stand and bang the whole time.

He is free to move from MW to WW, depending if there is a big fight at WW for him.
