According to MMA Fanhouse, Strikeforce is looking to book a middleweight match-up between Robbie Lawler and Ronaldo Souza on the same card that will feature the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers bout later this year on Showtime.

Good call, let’s hope he goes in head down, CB Dollaway style ;-)

say what you want
but this is a match between two top 15 middleweights. Lawler is a hard hitting veteran and Souza is one of the top jiu jitsu artists in the world. what’s not to like?

actually i was just sleeping.. haha.
because of the time difference, i get to spend lots of time in BE and post while most of the staff are asleep, a couple of hours when they’re awake, and a couple of hours before they sleep..
(thats the time where most unmoderated flamewars/trolling happens.. it kinda gets interesting at times, but usually when it happens, it just gets annoying cause no one deletes super dumb comments haha)
By the time i sleep, it’s about lunch time there, and all the staff are awake so they’ve got most news covered anyway… most important news at anytime gets covered, so it’s a win-win situation IMO.. haha.

thank you strikeforce
finally a matchup i like. get to see the great jacare against some legit competition instead of that putz mayhem miller.
oh yeah. jacare by whatever he wants.
Uhhh
if by ‘whatever he wants’ means a submission, then yeah. You’re batshit crazy if you think he can beat Lawler standing though And it’s very likely that he’ll get clipped a few times before then.

well yea
whatever he wants = submission. jacare throws submissions like they were punches. jacare’s advantage on the ground is far greater than lawler’s advantage on the feet. i imagine rob lawler will be on his back pretty quickly and submitted in the first round.
Interesting. Lawler vs. Jacare is a great fight, but I wonder what that means for Matt Lindland — I was beginning to talk myself into Lindland-Lawler. Maybe Lindland vs. Villasenor?
i'd much rather see
lawler vs manhoef or miller
jacare vs shields
figured that was a no brainer for coker. guess not.
This is a very compelling matchup
Lawler’s wrestling is very good, but then again- so is Jacare’s. I tend to think Jacare by submission in the 1’st or 2’nd, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Robbie dusted him

Oldie but goodie - Jacare BJJ highlight

You can see the influence of his school — bjj fundamentals with plenty of standup skills left over from the early masters. You will never see Jacare pull guard.
Rumored October/November Bouts So Far:
Fedor vs Rogers
Shields vs Mayhem Miller
Jacare vs Lawler
Matt Lindland vs TBA
MW is the only weight
where Strikeforce have a decent roster.
This is where I thought Affliction and Strikeforce should have focused.
When Affliction first started out – they should have captured mainly Heavyweights and built cards around having heavyweights. This would have been a much better recipe for success.
Although MW is less compelling than HW Strikeforce have a decent MW division and there are some decent MW fighters they can get that are still out there. Add Diaz and Shields to the mix and you have some very interesting match ups.
Not that it’s really going to do them any good in the long run.
Jacare vs Lawler or Maia vs Marquardt?
For me Maia vs Marquardt is easily the better fight but all the ANZ poster will hype Jacare vs Lawler to no end.
wtf is ANZ?
don’t know what ANZ is but i am pretty sure i am not that. both are great fights. both are veterans with impressive histories taking on up and coming BJJ prodigies. anyone that says they would prefer one over the other just isn’t an MMA fan.
