Tim Sylvia vs Jason Riley and Houston Alexander vs Sherman Pendergarst at Adrenaline 4
Edit: No, they're not fighting each other. I agree that would probably be more entertaining.
From Brian Knapp at Sherdog
Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia will return to competitive duty when he meets Jason Riley in the Adrenaline MMA 4 main event on Sept. 18 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In the Adrenaline MMA 4 co-main event, one-time UFC juggernaut Houston Alexander will lock horns with journeyman Sherman Pendergarst.
Alexander has not survived the first round in any of his past three fights, including an eight-second knockout loss to James Irvin.
Glad to see then both getting back in action

Both Tim and Houston should have easy wins.
Should is the word though.
This Sherman guy Wiki has him at 11-13 and Sherdog has him at 11-14. Wow.
Jason Riley is like 6-1 but is nobody and so if you cant beat him Tim retire.

Sherm is Tim’s training partner at the gym, they spar all the time and have for years. Tims beats the shit out of him in these sessions. All that said I see him taking Houston in an all out slugfest.

This sort of reads like Alexander VS Sylvia. Which would be awesome in a “desert outside the UFC” sort of way.

I thought the same thing
and thought, “Huh?? Seriously?!?!???” and quickly clicked only to be disappointed. I don’t even know who this Pendergarst guy is, haha.

Anybody who gets submitted by a 48 year old Ray Mercer should reconsider their MMA career. Knocking people out has been Mercer’s job for a long time.
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.

Ray Mercer could knock out a lot of MMA fighters if it was a striking only fight.

It shouldn't have happened
but Ray could definatley drop a number of current stars as you said. You don’t forget how to punch hard when you have been doing it your entire life.

And this was a striking only fight, although not officially. Of course Tim didn’t help himself by apparently putting in little or no training.

He was training...
Twice a day at that, I know cuz I suggested his new boxing coach. What he didn’t do is diet…obviously…and he didn’t stick to the game plan that was set for him. And the result was getting KTFO.

next mma fight george foreman vs tim sylvia
sylvia falls to the ground in five seconds and george sr does an informercial in the ring for his new barbecue grill. sylvia has lost four in a row right. he supposed to be in his prime but has lost to to 45 year old and a 48 year old. fedor knocked him out in 29 seconds. time to go back to maine and get a second job. i don’t dislike sylvia but the writing is on the wall.

haha
Lost 4 in a row to who? Randy, Nog, Fedor, And Mercer??? I’ll give you the Mercer fight, but anyone who Ray lands a clean shot on is going down, a lot of guys on here were saying that before the fight. He had long layoff after Fedor, if this was anyone else it would be attributed to ring rust. As far as the other three, he went 5 rounds with Randy, gave Nog a serious run for his $, and got destroyed by Fedor. Atleast with all the hate for Tim, no one can say he was ducking anyone.

The biggest mistake Tim has made is leaving the UFC.

i don't hate anyone in mma it's a great sport
the first thing any credible mma fighter would do is wrestle him to the ground (that would be mercer) then ground and pound him. it’s the old saying could mike tyson by the number 1 hw champion of the mma world. not a chance. he would be wrestled to the ground, get frustrated and get ground and pounded. p.s sure tyson would knock out a few out but the top ten guys would use that gameplan to win. that why its called MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. bj penn defeats diego sanchez in third round by triangle choke. i live in nevada and mma betting has exploded. they have lines all the way to ufc 106 penn is only a -160 favorite. i like sanchez but his praising god after every fight he wins is kinda comical. the prodigy brings the nightmare to diego. vamos!

I’m really hoping to make it over for this one. The MAC is actually a pretty good venue for mma — not really any bad seats in the house for any of the more local events I’ve seen there. The roof will go off when Houston gets introduced — the dude’s so popular around here. Hopefully he can give the crowd something to cheer about, unlike his last “big” local fight at Fight Night.

What do Sylvia and Alexander have in common?
They both lost in under 10 seconds! I feel like that’s not a big club, especially among former UFC fighters.
