Ed Soares Talks About Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera & Junior Dos Santos
Fight Hype caught up with Ed Soares, the manager of Black House fighter's Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera and Junior Dos Santos. Nogueira will be facing Randy Couture at the main event of UFC 102, and he says that Big Nog is in the best shape he's ever seen him:
I'll tell you, Nogueira is feeling great. He's probably in the best shape that I've ever seen him in since I've been managing him. This is the best I've ever seen Nogueira. He's focused, he's had a great training camp and he's been training really hard. He's trimmed up a little bit. He's probably 8 to 10 pounds lighter than he was before. He's quicker and moving well. He was pretty much injury free throughout this whole training camp. We're expecting to see the best Nogueira that the UFC has ever seen.
He also talked about Junior Dos Santos' fight against Mirko Cro Cop on UFC 103:
Cro Cop is no joke. Everyone has seen the highlight reel knockouts that he has. He's a very dangerous guy, but we believe 100% in all of our fighters and especially Junior Dos Santos. It's not a matter of if he's going to be a champion, it's just a matter of when. He's definitely a contender and I think on September 19th, we will get a chance to see what Junior is made of. He's going to go and fight Cro Cop and I believe he's going to beat Cro Cop!
There were rumors floating that Nog has looked really bad in camp, but if what Ed says is true and that this is indeed the best Nogueira that we have yet to see in the UFC, then the fans will surely be in for a treat.
Nogueira's protoge, Junior Dos Santos, is one of the UFC's fastest rising stars, and a win over Cro Cop would surely do wonders for his career. His fight against Mirko Cro Cop is one of the UFC 103 fights that a lot of fans are looking forward to cause either way, two knockout artists going head to head, would definitely bring the fireworks.

Dos Santos is still young, so even a loss at this point shouldn’t hurt him too much (I do expect Dos Santos to beat CroCop). However, we still have to see Dos Santos’ ground game. With him training with Nogueira and Black House, one would assume that it would be pretty good. It will be very interesting to see Dos Santos vs CroCop because we have yet to see how Dos Santos does against a high-level Heavyweight striker.
That's how I feel
about JDS/ CC. It should tell us alot about where Santos and Mirko both are in there careers.

It’s actually known that Dos Santos’ ground game is not up to par yet. It’s adequate but not anything good.

Isn't he a purple belt?
I remember hearing some where that he was a PB under Nog

Just looked it up on Wiki
and he is, indeed, a purple belt.
His only loss in MMA was due to submission, but the guy he lost to (Joaquim Ferreira) is a black belt under Vinicius ‘Draculina’ Magalhaes (not the guy from TUF, he’s actually much better), and a Gracie Fusion fighter, so it’s not like he got subbed by a bum.

Vinny from TUF is still one of the better grapplers out there.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
For sure
but Draculino is a beast. You should look up some of his instructional videos, he has some of the best out there.

I really hope Nogueira wipes the floor with Couture. No offense to Couture, but everybody knows he is retiring soon. Hate to see him knock off a contender on the way out.
Nogueira is still probably closer to retirement.

the sad thing is, whoever and however one guy loses,
a lot of fans will surely be calling for his retirement..

i think nogueira has taken soo many shots to the head
he has diminished skills at this point in his career and i see randy winning the fight. i just hope that nog does not get something known as pugilistic dementia. it has happened to many boxers. look how many shots he took against tim sylvia to get the belt. i pretty much new he would win b/c that has been his m/o for a long time n(pride fighting). if mir can knock down nog so can randy. randy wins late in second round tko!

I'm hoping
Cro Cop starts looking like the old Croatian badass who won the Pride GP a few years back. Having a really high caliber striker in the HW division would make things more interesting, for sure.
