Karo Parisyan vs. Dustin Hazelett announced for UFC 106:

Must-win for Karo? Or does he have one more loss/disgrace/cancelled bout in him before the UFC cuts him?
I think with Strikeforce nipping at their heels
that Karo has at least a couple of losses before he gets cut.

Yeah, I agree. While a loss here sets Karo even further back, I don’t see the UFC being too eager to release any fighters with a ‘name’ people recognize.
Karo has never lost by submission...
I am pretty sure he hasn’t anyway, this is a tough match up both ways. I like Hazelett a lot! I hope he can get that sub if not then I think Karo will get the decision. We’ll see some good throws and some good scrambles. I am excited!!!
That's true, but...
He was never knocked out before either until Alves TKOed him. Is McLovin the guy to tap him out? We won’t know for sure until fight time, but there’s a first time for everything.
i beat you both by almost 20 minutes haha. :)
this is shaping up to be a good card.. Hazelett is one of my favorite fighters ever, and i think he can beat karo..
Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin
Tito Ortiz vs Mark Coleman
Karo Parisyan vs. Dustin Hazelett
those three alone are enough to declare the card as a win in my book.. :)

Hey, maybe if I start a rumor it’ll get back to the UFC that the fans want to see it and they’ll go ahead and book the fight. Don’t get your panties in a bunch ladies.

You know, Jones vs Hammill is actually a fight that makes sense, and if it were to come to fruition, it would most likely come around that time. You may have just predicted a fight that has some chance of happening.

I really want to see Karo cut down to lightweight
getting in the kind of shape he’d need to be in to make 155 would solve his chronic undertraining problems. I also hope he’s had surgery to fix his hamstring tear.

i live in cali i was leaving a medical dispensary about 6 months ago and i saw karo walk in… i was like holy shiit!! he was in the parking lot walking in and i knew it was him because his looks and second if i was wrong his car was a white bmw some 7 series and the plates said theheat. i stopped and tried talking to him for a bit and asked if he would ever drop to LW he said he hasnt weighed that since he was a young kid but doesnt think it would be impossible. you may have predicted karo’s near future fighting weight!
Does anyone think McLovin can submit Karo?
It seems to me that Karo’s grappling is too good for Hazelett to catch him.
can maia sub a blackbelt in marquardt? I think he can..
Hazelett doing it to Karo is easier i think than Maia subbing Nate, cause Marquardt is well rounded and actually trains well.. all karo does, is make excuses..
(it’s a stupid analogy i know, but it is also a question being brought up by some people)
Karo hasn’t looked impressive at all in his last few fights, so i think Hazelett can really do it.. that’s if he has recovered 100% from that ACL.
by Anton Tabuena on Aug 24, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions
Karo has some great grappling skills, but has looked underwhelming in his last bouts. Contrarily, McLovin has looked better in every fight, and he is utilizing that BJJ black belt quite well. I can see Karo winning by decision by maintaining top control, but other than that, I can’t see him winning any other way. I am going to pick Hazelett to win this. Both are coming off long layoffs, but Hazelett’s growth as a fighter vs Karo looking not too great lately makes me think that Hazelett wins this. I also feel that Hazelett has better standup than Karo, and there is no question about Hazelett’s ground game, height, and reach.

I like this fight. I’m picking McLovin….

Woot, go McLovin’, the only man to take a Submission of the Night away from Demian Maia.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
It is hard to be more impressive than transitioning from an omoplata, holding the omoplata position, and doing an armbar from that position in the first round. Maia did hit a nice RNC on Quarry that night though.

Go McLovin'!
Get ’em Dustin. Cincinnati needs another breakout star, and dominating Karo is perfect for that.
by Miketsi on Aug 24, 2009 11:03 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
i think he wins against Karo, but it may not look "dominating"
Even when you beat him, it’s usually hard to look good against a guy like Karo..

interesting matchup. hopefully karo used his suspension layoff to get his head right.
I fucking love love LOVE Hazelett.
I read an interview where he said his SotN bonuses afforded him the opportunity to properly rehab his injury as opposed to hurting for cash and rushing a return.
I would love nothing more than another amazing Hazelett sub. I fucking love that kid, did I mention that?

Umm, War Karo!
My Judo throws are the best.
The best throws in the world.
All other throws…are done by little girls.

naah
That was a joke from when Karo made a cameo on TUF, he kept yelling at Nate Diaz, “Do you know who I am?”
fail =(
I didn’t watch TUF until Hughes Serra. I hated reality shows and would not watch them. AT ALL.
Then one day…
lol
To this day I love Jrocs impression of Matt Serra.

Good fighter with the potential to be great but doesn’t live up to it.

he does have the potential to be great...
I hope Karo still believes that, and works to prove it…

So Logic sais (if that carries any weight around here anymore) that

My guesses are
1. ESPN – Strongest chance.
2. ABC – Would be sick!
3. HBO – Just throwing it out there

Not like he never changes his mind, but didn’t Dana have a strict “no networks” policy because they demanded too much control?
The networks may have changed their mind between then and now.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.
by ufc4 on Aug 24, 2009 11:44 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
that seems to be a scapegoat for why the network deal, but I think the whole package stunk.
Just looking at what we could see from the Elite shows on CBS. To give up control AND pay for production AND have the production suck as much as it did just didn’t and still doesn’t make sense.
Maybe they’re back with more money, maybe the networks realized that even though there are faults with the UFC’s production, it’s better to have experienced people and try to work with them. there are lots of ways things could have changed.
Right. Right?

Karo should take this without much problem, Dustin has gotten way too much hype by doing not much to earn it. He isn’t going to sub Karo who has great grappling skills and is going to get tossed around like a rag doll for three rounds this should be a great highlight win to get Karo back in the groove.
105 is free so I doubt we see this anywhere other than PPV. As far as the fight goes, I am pissed that this fight is an under card fight. Karo vs. Dustin could be a fight of the night type of fight or a sub of the night.
Raker…. Without much problem huh? Have you seen the up and down Karo? Dustin is a fighter that has been working hard to improve all aspects of his game. Plus, grappling skills does not =submission defense. I am looking for Dustin to out strike Karo, Karo to clinch and look for the throw and then Dustin to sub him.
Look out UFC, another Ohio fighter on the rise
