WAMMA is Back???

http://mmapayout.com/2009/08/wamma-announces-strategic-partnership-with-brand-asset-digital/

NEW YORK (August 20th, 2009) –The World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts (WAMMA) today announces a new strategic partnership with Brand Asset Digital, the distributed technologies company. The association between the two groups will help WAMMA incorporate new sponsorships into traditional and electronic platforms.

“We believe our combined efforts will help bring new sponsors into the MMA arena,” says WAMMA CEO Dave Szady. “I will also help advance WAMMA’s mission of promoting the integrity, legitimacy and prosperity of MMA.”

"Brand Asset Digital will provide WAMMA with unparalleled access to P2Plive streaming technology and our social networking platform providing them with the ultimate online experience," says Brand Asset Digital CEO Tim Hogan. "We are on the cutting edge of changing the LIVE experience on the internet and the future of online programming with P2PLive Streaming. We are looking forward to applying that technology to mixed martial arts."

WAMMA also congratulations Strikeforce on signing WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko, and congratulates M-1 and Dream on their partnership with Strikeforce.

“All three of these organizations have been friends of WAMMA and these developments and plans to co-promote move the sport of MMA forward on a global scale,” said Szady. “The three of these organizations have a tremendous talent pool from which to draw and WAMMA looks forward to future Championship fights.”

Additionally, Szady addressed rumors of WAMMA’s demise, including blogosphere photos of vacant WAMMA offices.

“Clearly WAMMA is alive and well, and growing,” says Szady. “We are in the process of relocating to new office space in Pensacola and will resume our rankings this month. WAMMA has been actively seeking a new rankings committee chair. We plan to finalize a new Rankings Committee Chairperson and make that announcement shortly.”

About WAMMA

WAMMA is the only universally accepted global governing body in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

WAMMA is dedicated to leading the sport of Mixed Martial Arts to unprecedented levels of integrity, legitimacy and prosperity. With the help of forward-looking MMA promotions, WAMMA has created an environment where fighters from all organizations have the opportunity to openly compete to be the one true, undisputed champion in their respective weight classes based on WAMMA’s objective MMA Rankings.

About Brand Asset Digital

Brand Asset Digital is a distributed technologies company with a core focus on P2P Search Marketing and Optimization, delivering efficient, high-quality, live streaming technology, and video centric social networking platforms. Our mission is to provide cutting edge products and services that enable and empower Advertisers and Content Owners to easily leverage these technologies within a robust, scalable architecture. We promote and build brands amid a vast, untapped audience. We are the P2P Solutions Company.

WAMMA is like a really bad horror movie franchise that will just never die.  Of the 7 weight classes primarily used in the United States (excluded Fly & Super), the UFC has 52 of the 70 Top Ranked fighters.  This is according to both Sherdog and BE's rankings.  And with all of this top competition always fighting each other, it really makes these belts they hand out pointless.

Please go away WAMMA!!!!

Looking over Brand Asset Digital...

All that’s really happening is that WAMMA signed with an experienced company to promote their brand. Web and flash development (down my alley), SEO, SEM, web site design.

It still doesn’t take away from the fact that their business model is ridiculous.

what’s the deal with “p2p” in the release if this is about websites and flash video? I don’t get how the two are connected.

by Stanlee on Aug 20, 2009 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions

They are on the cutting edge of advertising in that they will basically do the entire Google Adwords plan, but on P2P networks. They will find what you are searching for on P2P networks by similar means in which the feds track people downloading songs. In this case, they’ll target ads for what you’re downloading into the P2P software.

So what does this have to do with ranking fighters?

“Brand Asset Digital will provide WAMMA with unparalleled access to P2Plive streaming technology and our social networking platform providing them with the ultimate online experience,” says Brand Asset Digital CEO Tim Hogan. “We are on the cutting edge of changing the LIVE experience on the internet and the future of online programming with P2PLive Streaming. We are looking forward to applying that technology to mixed martial arts.”
What does WAMMA have to do with live streaming? They don’t have anything to actually stream on the internet. How do you live stream fighter rankings? What in the hell would WAMMA need with a social networking platform for? Seriously has anyone ever thought “man you know what WAMMA has been missing? A social networking platform, that’s what they really are needing”?

by who me on Aug 20, 2009 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions   2 recs

I don’t know what they’ll do with the live streaming technology… I wonder if they are going to stream events or something as side income for promotions that can’t do it themselves.

Wouldn’t you still need a tv production crew if you were going to film for streaming video too? Are they expecting small time promotions to pay WAMMA to stream their shows or is WAMMA thinking it can get fans to pay them for streams of small time promotions? Perhaps members of their social networking platform would get to watch them?

Is it just me or does this sound like something even goofier than normal out of them?

has strikeforce or dream ever publicly said anything about wamma?

I know they’re listed on the site, but, there’s a reason WAMMA wasn’t any part of Dynamite, and Scott coker seems to be smart enough to realize that they don’t bring anything to the table.

WAMMA better hope that Strikeforce is making Fedor vs. Rogers happen, otherwise Edor will have a very difficult time fighting a top 10 opponent, and they’ll have to strip him of the belt.

Also

Can anyone explain why WAMMA is so hated around here? If they fail to accomplish what they are setting out to accomplish (which certainly looks likely), nothing happens at all. If they succeed, it’s good for the sport.

Because they claim they want to do all these great things for the sport but they are only around when there is a chance to get their hand in on leeching some money from someone.

WAMMA CEO Dave Szady is a well respected man with a great resume(outside of MMA) for disputing guys like Assemblyman Bob Reilly from New York who is trying to keep MMA from being legalized in New York. If WAMMA and their CEO Dave Szady was serious about their claims of wanting to support and promote the sport of MMA he would have been front and center debating Bob Reilly with all his ridiculous claims. WAMMA CEO Dave Szady should have WAMMA all over the legalization process in New York and other places but that isn’t the case. That tells me all I need to know about how valid WAMMA’s claims of wanting to support and promote the sport of MMA are.

Just BE.

well…if they succeed it is absolutely NOT good for the sport is part one. I’d say read through the links on THIS article to see our history with WAMMA.

And fuck them, that’s why.

Sanctioning bodies have done a lot of good for boxing. The problem is that there are too damned many of them. Letting the promoters decide who the champions and contenders are is a recipe for illegitimacy.

by yarky1 on Aug 21, 2009 11:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Sanctioning bodies on the whole do more harm than good to boxing. WAMMA already established that they don’t exist to name the best fighters as champions…When you disregard the company with the top fighters from being “champions” for your sanctioning body, you are agreeing that you’re not around for any reason other than to find a way to make money…not for the good of the sport.

Well, most people hate them because their basic business plan is to simply attach some sort of major sponsor to the belts, to make a bunch of money. They really have no aspirations to bring any good to the sport.
