Gilbert Yvel UFC bound along with Lil Nog?:
"As part of the deal, several Affliction fighters’ contracts were transferred to the UFC, including Vitor Belfort, Ben Rothwell, Chase Gormley, and Gilbert Yvel, among others, though a complete roster of the transfers was never disclosed officially."

Hell Yeah!!
I was wondering when Yvel would get into the UFC. He already has a victory over Cheick Kongo, and he is a pretty deadly striker who always looks for the finish.

I was thinking about that. He could rematch Kongo, or face Cro Cop, Dos Santos etc. I have wanted him to be in the UFC for a while now.

The UFC is gonna make getting rid of strikeforce easier than Affliction. M-1 better start lending out their LHW’s to SF if they wanna keep their (SF) LHW’s busy.

Damn they’re using the trawling net approach to talent aquisition.

Haha maybe they’ll make it happen once he gets out of jail. I remember reading the article before he got punished for anything, and thinking… wow, an anarchy symbol spray painted on a capital building AND claiming you don’t pay taxes? That’s like the complete inverse of a get out of jail free card, its a “you’re a moron and getting sent directly to jail because you decided get published in major magazine doing highly illegal things” card

Which i would favor him over both..If Kongo wasn’t tied up with Mir, i’d like to see that rematch and have Mir fight Buenatello

The Mir/ Kongo fight is going to be awesome though. Great matchup, the winner is gonna get the loser of carwin/ kongo methinks.

I don’t like Gilbert Yvel in any major organization. He is a cheater.
by AlwaysRelaxing on Aug 19, 2009 4:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Harsh?
So does that mean sherk, timmy, Irvin, franca, nick diaz, gsp, Nate the great, etc also shouldn’t be in major organizations?

Remember the days when people ragged on the hw division for the ufc? Ha ha after tuf ends they might have too much of a hw divison. Fedor who? Who needs the clown when you have basically every other big named hw out there.
Good job ufc I will be supporting your efforts to make fedor have no choice but to surrender his ranking or come to the octagon

The UFC’s heavyweight division is getting a lot deeper. I like the addition of Buentello and Yvel if they have in fact been signed also. Plus as you mentioned this season of TUF will add more depth. I’m betting they keep at least half of the guys on the show in the UFC for a little while at least. Just to make sure they don’t miss out on some name recognition they have coming off this next season of TUF that could very well end up being the highest rated season of TUF. Now I’m not saying that all the additions are or will be top talent but it will go a long way in perception if not reality.
Just BE.

I’d love to see Buentello back in the UFC too, but I think he is contracted to Strikeforce itself, rather than to Affliction.
Good for Yvel though—the man said he wants a “big belt,” and if this is true he’s at least in the right place to get one. (Getting that belt, even standing opposite the cage from that belt, is a pretty tall order of course.)
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.

Buentello’s manager said in an interview a few days ago that he is probably going to sign with the UFC.

Yeah...
Would be odd considering he is under M-1.
