Michael Bisping: Wanderlei Silva Will NOT Be My Opponent at UFC 105

Quick update on the potential Wanderlei Silva fight. Unfortunately thats not gonna happen. He's undergone facial surgery, so obviously won't be fighting in the near future. Rumours are he's actually out for the rest of the year.
So as of right now, Im still unaware of who I'll be facing at UFC 105. Obviously as stated before, when I know, you know.
Zak Woods elaborates:
Bisping's blog post at least confirms that the two camps were being approached about the potential fight. Currently it is rumored that UFC 105 will be headlined Michael Bisping in Manchester, England (Bisping lives in Manchester).
Without Wanderlei as an opponent Bisping may have to fight either the winner or loser of Maia vs. Marquardt in order for his bout to be a legit main event. Or the UFC could feature a title fight as the main event with Bisping fighting a different middleweight. Either the UFC middleweight or lightweight belts could be defended at that time.

I think he can be a force at welterweight.. Give him Dan Hardy at 105 for his first fight and then push him up the ladder if he wins and if he loses then you have Hardy you can push further into contention

but the low low paydays
those title fights got have made it very hard for them to book other title fights on UK cards.
The champs get a % of the PPV and they got stiffed on those cards big time.

Wasn’t the plan to have Silva/Bisping for this card if Bisping won at UFC 100? I am just saying although it is unlikely for this card it doesn’t mean there will never be a title fight again in the UK like some are making it out to be.

Yeah it’s in England, no title fight. It’s too bad, Wandy is actually one of the few people that would make a Bisping fight interesting to me.

BJ said after the stevenson fight he would never fight outside the States again as he gets no cut of the ppv money if he fights outside the states. Thats what he said after it anyway

If the UFC did Sanchez vs Stevenson and Bisping vs Leben as a main event to a U.K. card, then the UFC can do a non-title fight again
I can see Bisping co-main eventing or main eventing depending on who his opponent is. Also, I can see the UFC NOT having a title fight on this card especially since there will have a PPV the following week.
Please give us a good headliner Dana!

My god, can you imaging if they told the winner of that fight that they’d have to go through BISPING before they got a title shot?
It’s a (relatively) safe fight against a name opponent.
