They’ve gotta come in inside the range which defines their weight class. For example, a welterweight has to weigh more than 156 pounds, but less than or equal to 170. So a welterweight coming in at 165 is strange, but legal.
Additionally, there’s a 1 pound margin or error allowed for the scales. So if the scale reads 171 for a welterweight, it’s ok.
He weighed in at 172, so he only needs to shed one pound.

This may seem like a weird question, but I have not found a solid answer yet..
Is it legal for female fighters in MMA to punch each other in the tits? Cause I would imagine that would hurt a lot more than their male counterparts and borderline on a foul.
