Yahya defeated Josh Hosman by North-South choke at 2:08 of round 1. Hosman's eyes tell a frightening story, no?

Yahya looks like a Tasmanian Devil
going constantly for subs. It is crazy to watch him.

North South chokes probably take some of the most time out of compression chokes to actually take effect especially slow if it’s just on the windpipe, but yeah Garcia does love it; Garcia typically goes into kesa gatame with it though from what I remember.

The look on Hosman's face is like-
Help! Someone please help me!

Reminds of the look on that reporters face
when he was asking Cyborg about choking Gina Carano out & she slapped it on his ass! lol

I find it’s useful against a lot of non-white belts. Go for arm triangles from side control then slip into the NS choke. A lot of times they’ll think they’re in the clear since an arm isn’t trapped. By the time they realize you’re going for a NS it’s too late to defend.

Are you suggesting that people with
white belts are able to identify the NS choke coming & stop you? lol

Lol. No. I didn’t say that very well. It’s easy to catch white belts in pretty much every submission, so NS choke isn’t anything special against them. It’s harder to catch more advanced guys with arm bars etc. The NS is higher % for me than a lot of other submissions when taking on a blue+ belt.

You know what I find works incredibly well, but it’s possibly because I just drill it a lot? Anaconda Chokes, for some reason 99% of people don’t think they’re in danger.

Reminds me of “choke days” at the gym. Nothing like getting choked in various ways for a whole class.

Those are pretty bad weeks, gotta love showing up at work with Gi burn all around your neck.

And yeah, I’ve been asked if I tried to commit suicide because of Gi burns around my neck…

Haha
When I first started I had a bad habit of tapping the mat. I got over that bad habit real fast after damn near going out.

I say tap out loud if it’s an armbar or a leg lock. I tap the mat or my opponent if it’s a choke or shoulder lock.
I’ve had way too many close calls trying to tap my opponent when they have an armbar, I just say it now and tap them just for good measure.

Did Hosman tap or nap?

I’m sorry but this really cracked me up. News from yesterday. That has nothing to do with Yahya or the NS choke or even the WEC. And your screen name is “mistake.” Made me chuckle.
Carry on.
