Just after news broke that Chris Lytle suffered an injury and would be unable to face Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16th, MMA Junkie is now reporting that the UFC has signed experienced midwestern prospect Jake Ellenberger (21-4) to step in and face Condit:
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today learned from sources close to the event that Ellenberger has agreed to replace an injured Chris Lytle and face will now face Carlos Condit (22-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 19.
A former member of Team Quest who now trains at Mid-America Martial Arts, Ellenberger has compiled an extensive record fighting in many of the more notable "minor league" promotions, including: the IFL, Bellator, Bodog, KOTC, Extreme Challenge, and IFC. Currently riding a four-fight win streak, Ellenberger holds notable victories over Jose "Pele" Landi-Jons, Gil Castillo, and Pat Healy. Most recently, Ellenberger knocked out Marcelo Alfaya at Bellator's June 12th event.

Everybody. They’re getting everybody.
Unless they’re cutting a ton of people we don’t know about, this makes it look like they’re prepping for an increase in events. ABC in the offing?
Great signing, great fight.
I’ve been an Ellenberger fan for a minute now.
Don’t know if I like his chances against Condit, but I think Jake can grit out a close decision at the least.
Oh and about his last fight...
Ellenberger KO’d Marcelo Alfaya (“Grilo,” pretty tough Brazilian dude) at Bellator in under a minute, on about 12 hours notice. He flew across the country same-day and weighed in at 5pm on fight night. Good stuff.

Hell of a windup on the strike that dropped the guy, it came from across the country.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
But he did get bossed around surprisingly by Ricky Story.
I did a feature for Real Fighter Magazine on Ellenberger a year or so ago. The guy was a top diver in high school, believe it or not. Then did the Marines and fell into fighting. Tough SOB.

Good fight, but a matchup that hangs Condit out to dry a bit. Whatever you think of him, he’s a top ten WW. A fight with Hardy or Paulo Thiago was more to my taste.

Terrific signing, was wondering who was going to sign Jake E. first.

The main eventS
were and still are Huerta/Maynard and Diaz/Guillard…Lytle/Condit was a feature bout, but was never considered a main event.

Honestly, I wish Condit would turn this fight down. This doesn’t help him in furthering his career at this point. A fight against a bigger 170 name such as Koschek, Thiago, Hardy, Davis or Karo would go help him much more in him climbing the ladder.

– Is Nick Diaz looking for another cleanse "ritual"?
– "He was surprised he tested positive," Gracie said. "He does the same ritual every fight for the last five years. He stops it in time and he cleanses his system, works out like crazy, drinks a lot of water and purges his system of it" [Cesar Gracie] via bloodyelbow.com
– Is "NickDiaz209" really Nick Diaz's YouTube account?
Here's a video of MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani asking Diaz about the account.
