Dana White Vlogs Removed From YouTube, Will Not Continue

As of yesterday, all of Dana White's video blogs on the UFC channel were removed:

Carmichael Dave talks to Dana White:

"I made the decision not to do the blogs anymore." "I am the one that took them down" said White. "They were fun while they lasted, and thanks to everyone for the support."

According to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk:

... "The UFC is known to be working on a behind-the-scenes show with major network HBO, with a working title of ‘Outside the Octagon’."

"It is possible that it was felt there is too much crossover between the video blogs and the television show, in which case ceasing the blogs makes sense."

Let the speculation begin about what the reason is.

HBO won’t pay me for stuff that people can watch on Youtube for free

by TheConcreteKid on Aug 11, 2009 8:49 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

for free

are you living in the 80’s? one or two hours after it’s on the air, you can watch that show online for free. or download it…somewhere.

...

It doesn’t matter that people watch HBO programming for free online, that’s a different problem. Dana is removing all his footage because HBO wants exclusive rights to all footage of Dana White hugging fighters and cursing and playing pranks. HBO is not going to give Dana ass loads of money for that if we can legally and easily watch it on youtube.

It’s just like watching a UFC event online the next day; it’s not legal, Dana doesn’t like it, but that’s completely different than having GSP fight for celebrity boxing on Fox for anyone to watch for free (the only youtube:HBO analogy I can make off the time of my head)

Though I feel that someone who couldn’t understand my one sentence pun won’t read nor follow what I just wrote, as simple as it is.

P.S. the World Wide Web was launched in the 1990s, and youtube was founded in 2005… so I don’t follow your “are you living in the 80’s?” comment

I detect

some HBO vs. Showtime counter-programing in your future.

it could be that the blogs got boring and turned into the dana white prank and pink berry show.

That’s what I thought, I didn’t even watch the last couple because they were starting to get stupid and lame.

LOL

So Dana has FINALLY found a buyer for his ‘American Promoter’ reality show. You’ve got to give the guy credit for being persistent. He’s been trying to sell that show since 2004.

It’s because Tito kissed him on the mouth in the last one.

This makes sense to me based on something I heard last week. A friend of Jim Lampley that I know said he is in negotiations w/the UFC. Like “very close to signing a deal”. I was stunned but he said all the negative talk was behind them. As much as Lampley’s remarks pissed me off, his delivery is so smooth & he’s so recognizable that it could only help to have him in the booth.

i don’t want to hear the name de la hoya 400 times a round when someone throws any type of punch

I would love to see that, if for no other reason than watch Lampley grit his teeth every time he had to say something positive about MMA.

Lampley’s never liked it, that’s why. Who knows it’s just a rumor. I’m sure UFC would put him through UFC and MMA history bootcamp. I mean, it’s not like theres much boxing on HBO these days. He has time. lol

Wow is this for real? If true LOL @ HBO for caving in and finally accepting MMA is here to stay and here to takeover Boxing finally. :)

I’d take a team of Lampley Florian and Kellerman for any HBO shows.

Dont Lampley and Kellerman need to know something about MMA to be able to call it in the same fashion? I doubt they would do as well with MMA as boxing.

So Dana isn’t making any more vlogs? again?

I seem to recall him saying this once before.

Same here. A little less Dana works for me.

Dana says a lot of stuff.

At this point, I am pretty much expecting the Vlogs to be back, possibly around UFC 103 or so, unless something major happens in the meantime.

I love me some Sexyama!

I had just watched the first one from 101 last night, then went to watch the second one and it was removed…. I was just a few minutes too late…

My guess is that the string of obscenities that came out for a week following the Fedor thing broke the camera.

I dislike Matt Hughes.

perhaps Elliott told Dana that he just couldn’t go it anymore

This sucks!

I loved the Vlogs! They were much better than any countdown show I have ever seen on Spike. They were unique in that they showed the behind-the-scenes inner workings of the UFC. Sad day indeed. :(

by TDITZ on Aug 11, 2009 4:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

who called CPS?

I like the Vlogs too but Dana is too much of an untamed beast. If your Vlogs include you schocking your children with electric gizmos and insulting members of the media in the most perosnal and vitrolic of terms, then it should be clear that they are more of a liability tthen anything else.

Update:
However, an HBO source told FanHouse on Tuesday that “nothing’s happening right now” between HBO and the UFC. In fact, this was the first time the source, who would have knowledge on these matters, had heard of such a show.
