Damn, didn’t know this was such a big deal. I was eating a burrito on Saturday and the place had Nickelodeon on TV. They had an “iFIGHT” countdown clock in the lower right-hand corner of the screen all day, and were showing ads for it non-stop with the girls high-kicking and hitting (well, trying to hit) a speed bag.

Look what you've done!

We got excited the first time sportscenter even mentioned MMA. The wen had to keep pushing. GSP with his Gatorade deals, and with his face plastered on the cover of magazines. Cameos in movies and in Entourage. We wanted it to be seen and accepted and mainstream.

But now look at it. Now MMA is Nickelodeon casual. From Just Bleed Human Cock Fighting to “basic cable’s number-one telecast with kids and tweens on Saturday night”

And we’ve even caused an UFC vs. Affliction (now Strikeforce) style programming war between Nick and Disney. We’ve gone to far guys.

And everybody thought that Carano/Cyborg was gonna be the female mma story of the week.

Yeah I saw this.

My kids were waiting for it all day. It was kinda funny actually. That Spencer guy is hilarious and they even referred to the cage as…“The Octagon”, lol

He was the guy who was taking some kind of allergy pills with crazy side effects.

What was real bad that I’m sure everyone around here missed (I’ve got three daughter’s I had to set through the darn thing twice already) is that the whole premise of the show was that professional fighters know how to make it look like they are hitting someone when they aren’t. Yep you got it MMA fighters know how to fake fight and will do it in order to get the fans attention…… Vince McMahon would be proud. The real MMA fighter got mad at the other girl because she thought she tackled her Grandmother and decided she wasn’t going to “go easy on her” (fake the fight). So yea apparently this outdrew every MMA fight that has ever been on tv in the US and it informed all those kids that sometimes fighters fake it.

Oh and it’s not the first time ICarly did a MMA episode, that one revolved around them sneaking to a event even though they were told they were too young to go and one of the MMA fighters beating up Carly’s brother (apparently because hitting people who disagree with them is what MMA fighters do).

also what entourage episode was gsp on.

by ufcstinks on Aug 11, 2009 1:13 AM EDT reply actions

It was Iceman, not GSP. That second sentence was referring to MMA fighters in general, Rampage, Iceman, GSP, Timmy and many others have all made cameos in movies and such
