Every one of those shots to his face were clearly to the back of his head.

Yahya is now 4-1 in the WEC

with 4 first-round subs…can we start seeing him get televised, or at least get tougher competition? Then again, he has struggled with good wrestlers who possess solid sub defense like Beebe and Kid, so I don’t have much hope for him against the Fabers and Browns of the world.

I need to see video of Yahya’s NS choke, heard it was badass.

Does anyone know what the rating were for this? I don’t know anyone who actually watched it. I wish I had.

Ratings come out on Tuesday

more? you want MOOOOORE?

by pop_gun_war on Aug 10, 2009 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions

They’ll get paid the big bucks when they bring in the big bucks. It’s as simple as that. The fight game is all about making rain; you put asses in seats, and eyes on screen, you get paid. If you don’t you don’t.

It sucks that for whatever reason lighter guys don’t draw casual fans as well as larger guys, but that is not anybody’s fault. Enzyte commercials only go so far to pay the bills.

“It sucks that for whatever reason lighter guys don’t draw casual fans”

Reason: As a casual fan, you see someone fighting at 145 or 135 or whatever, you do not respect them because you “know” you could crush them (wether or not that is true is debateable). The average person weighs approx. 170-185 and higher, so when the casual fan sees someone fighting that is the size of last weekend’s bbq meat, they are not really interested and generally do not respect their skills.

Case in point- my brother and I are both between 240-270. We train, but are not professional fighters. Either one of us would gladly fight Torres or Faber any time, any place with 1 hour notice.

This is what bothered me about Torres' bitching about pay coming into this fight.

You can argue that you’re skill is the same all you want, but the public is who pays you. Don’t complain to Zuffa when the public are the ones deciding who should get the big bucks.

With that said, I would still like to see WEC folded into the UFC.

by Razreshat on Aug 10, 2009 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions

I would gladly bet on Torres or Faber v. amateurs of any size.

Though you may be right about why people dismiss smaller fighters. Me, I’m positive any professional fighter could murder me with their bare hands without breaking 100 bpm, regardless of their size.

Anyone else think

that Bowles vs. Brown would be….epic.
